River Valley Middle School Students Receive Governor General's Caring Award

This past Thursday, 3 members of the River Valley Me to We group (2 students from RVMS, 1 from Barnhill) received the Govenor General's Caring Canadian award for outstanding service work in their communities.
Our students made up 3of the 10 students in Atlantic Canada who recieved this award- congratulations to Julia Evans and Ashley Nutrter of RVMS and Madison Thorne from Barnhill.  Great work ladies-you make me so proud!
As well, 2 RVMS students were asked to be Press Room reps at We Day.  Julia Evens and Clara Kelly were interviewed by several members of the media about the importance of groups like Me to We and Free the Children, as well as why they are involved with them and the importance of service work in your community. They did a fantastic job !!

Finally- What do you buy that person who has everything for Christmas?? Why not buy them a goat?  For $50.00 you can purchase a goat in their name.  With your purchase, you are empowering a woman and her family in Africa, giving them milk, income, and the ability to be self-sustaining.  With your purchase, you also get a lovely card indicating that a goat has been purchased  by you in their name. It is the gift that keeps on giving!!! For more info, please email shelley.thorne@nbed.nb.ca or see Mrs Colwell at the school office.
Be the Change!
