Posts: The week of September 10 in grade one

Here's a look at what is going in my
grade 1 classroom this week!

 Bonjour parents and families,

Wow our first
week of school flew by.  I am amazed with
the French that my students have acquired in one week.  The students are learning some basic sentence
structures in French (Comment ç ava, je
m’appelle, J’ai 5/6 ans, the numbers to 10, alphabet, and colors).
It is
very important that your child sits on the mat or chair, looks at me when I am
talking and repeats the words with me.
Looking at the speaker, listening and repeating will help your child
learn a second language.  At home, you
can encourage your child to listen in class and repeat the words with me.  Frustration
is normal at this time of the year and it is the first stage in learning a
second language.

Please remember to pay your child's
student fee ($45) if you haven't done so already. Thank-you!

Please send your child’s data info sheet
and photo consent form if you haven’t done so.

Upcoming dates:

*Monday, September 10: Milk and hot lunch begin

*Thursday, September 13: Harvest Jazz and Blues

I will introduce our first sound (Aa).

We will continue to count and identify the numbers to

You and your world:

We will continue to work on classroom
procedures and expectations.

Please check the school webpage (my
teacher page) as I will post some of the French songs heard in class.  The more your child listens to the songs in French,
the more he/she will learn the new vocabulary.

Have a wonderful week, everyone!

Looking forward to seeing you on Thursday at Meet the
teacher.
