Gift Card BLITZ - the totals are in!
Good morning BCMS community and families,

Every year, as we sit down and start to plan our annual Gift Card Blitz, we set our goal based on the previous year's need.

This year, we knew we had much more need compared to previous years, so we slightly increased our goal to $1500 and hoped to be able to support all of our BCMS families in need.

We have been left speechless: as of this morning, you have collectively contributed almost twice our goal!  This amount will allow us to give a little help to those who need it, instead of having to leave some families out.

From the bottom of our hearts, we sincerely thank you for your incredible generosity, and wish you all a very Merry Christmas.

Sincerely,
the staff of BCMS

Leadership and Bliss Cares food drives raises over 700 lbs of food!

Bliss Carman Middle School students have collected over $1800 worth of food in October!

Student Leadership collected lunch snacks as admission to the Halloween soc hop, and the Bliss Cares group held a month-long "We Scare Hunger" food drive during the month, collecting over 700 lbs of food!

As our school is partnered with the Fredericton Community Kitchen, most of the food collected will stay in the school to help feed students and their families, as well as help support the FCC's breakfast program that runs every day here at BCMS!

WELL DONE, EAGLES!!!!

"What The App?" presentation info

Hi parents, caregivers and BCMS community members!

We are very excited for Thursday night's parent information night on internet safety and kids!  Below is some additional information on the presentation:

"Often when discussions of technology, boundaries and sex come up in
families, it is because an incident has already occurred. Understanding why
youth are engaging in these behaviours and taking preventative steps BEFORE
youth are given access to social media and handheld devices can go a long
way to keeping kids safe online.

Jenn Gorham is the program coordinator for the Fredericton Sexual Assault
Centre and has been with FSAC for 10 years.  The programs she coordinates
include: Youth Sexual Violence Prevention, Public Education and the
Volunteer Crisis Intervention Program. She works in schools throughout the
Anglophone West School District delivering workshops to youth on healthy
relationships, consent and coercion. She is a trained Vicarious Trauma and
Compassion Fatigue facilitator and has delivered Trauma Stewardship
workshops to frontline workers throughout the province. She also co-
developed and delivers the Sexual Assault Crisis Intervener Training (SACIT)
and has been working with FSAC’s provincial strategy over the past 7 years
to deliver SACIT provincially. Jenn is an engaging and energetic speaker and
uses stories and examples to highlight her material."
