Meet the Teacher and PSSC Election
Next Tuesday September 13th, we are hosting our Meet the Teacher night beginning at 6:00 p.m. Prior to the event, the BCMS music band information session will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the music room for those interested. At 6:00 p.m. we will have general introductions followed by our school’s PSSC election (if necessary). Copies of the PSSC nomination form can be sent electronically to our homes, or be picked up at our main office. The PSSC committee meets once per month, and acts as an advisory board to the school. It is a fabulous way to have authentic involvement in all of our students’ education.
grade 7 upcoming presentation on sexual harassment
Good afternoon parents!
Throughout the fall term, BCMS fortunate to be partnering with the Fredericton Sexual Assault Center to deliver grade level presentations on sexual assault, sexual harassment, empowerment and online safety.
The first of these presentations will take place on Tuesday, September 13th during first period. All grade 7 students will attend a seminar that defines what sexual harassment is in an age appropriate context, as well as discuss strategies and solutions should any student experience this type of aggression. The presentation is being delivered by FSAC Program Coordinator Jenn Gorham, an experienced educator who has been delivering such presentations to students within the city of Fredericton for years.
We recognize the sensitivity of this topic for some of our students. Please talk to your children about their experience during this presentation, and please do not hesitate to contact the guidance department with any questions, concerns or comments you may have.
Wecome to the Guidance department!
Hello to all new and returning Eagles!
I am very happy to be Bliss Carman's guidance counsellor this fall. Many returning students will know my face from last year, but fear not, new Eagles! I will be stopping by all of your classes the first week to introduce myself to all students. Along with providing counselling services to all of our BCMS students, I am also teaching some classes - something I am very much looking forward to!
We have a very busy few months coming up in the guidance department, with many presetantions, Canada Career Week, International Day of the Girl, mental health and LGBTQ awareness activities, to name a few! Stay tuned to the Guidance page for information on upcoming events and presentations.
So here is my message to all students to start off the year on the right foot and to shake off those "new school year" jitters: GET INVOLVED! Find a club, activity, or sport (or all of the above!), and help make BCMS a fun place to be!
Happy 2016-2017 school year!
Mme Julie LeGresley, B.A., B.Ed., M.Ed., C.C.C.
