Posts: Retrieval of Student Items

4/29/2020 12:33 PM by tracy.stewart

All administrators in ASD-W have received notification
that students / parents can enter the school to retrieve students’ personal
items beginning next week on Monday, May 4. Please note that entering our
school to pick up your child’s items is optional.  If you choose not to make a visit to the school
and do not want the items, that is perfectly fine.

Each school is required to create and communicate
their own process regarding school visits.
Should you have children that attend different schools, please refer to
each school’s communication for information on their process. All schools will
provide communication to their families by Friday, May 1.

Monday, May 4 is the only day in which Forest Hill
Elementary will open our school to allow one parent / guardian (and the Forest
Hill School Student if necessary) to enter the building.  We ask that if possible, no other family members
make this visit so we can limit the number of people having contact and coming
into and out of our building as per Public Health guidelines.

We suggest the following process to properly control
the number of people in the building at one time:

Monday, May 4: 9:00 – 10:00 am students with the last names A-B,
10:00 – 11:00 am students with the last names C-G, 11:00 am – 12:00pm students
with the last names H-L, 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm students with last names M-R, 1:00
pm – 2:00 pm students with last name S-Z, 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm open for those who
could not make the above times.

Tuesday, May 5 will be curbside pick up only from 9:00 am – 12:00
pm.  If you choose this option, we ask
that you call the school as you drive into the parking lot, give your student’s
name and class and let us know what vehicle you are driving so we can bring the
bag of your child’s items to your vehicle.

Please note the following processes that will be in place for pick
up on Monday, May 4:

1.
Parents (and student if applicable) will be asked 3 critical
questions about your current state of health.
You will only be permitted into the building if you can adequately
answer these questions.

2.
You will be directed to the hand sanitizing station just inside
the school (or you may wash your hands with soap and water in the designated
bathrooms) with an opportunity to look at the items on the table in the lobby
that have been unclaimed in our lost and found.

3.
You will be directed to travel down the hall toward your child’s classroom
where a bag labeled with your child’s belongings will be made available for you
in the hallway.  Other unclaimed and
unknown items that were in classrooms will also be on display on a table for
you to pick up should they belong to you.
We will have extra bags on hand should you need one for these
items.  Please do not bring your own
bags.

4.
Upon receiving your bag of student items, you will continue down
the hallway to the exit door.  Please note
that there will be travel directions on the floor similar to what you have seen
in grocery stores with the expectation that people will only travel in one
direction to allow for proper physical distancing. Our staff will be available
to guide and assist.

5.
These visits to pick up your items should take less than 15
minutes and we appreciate you picking up your items quickly to prevent others from
waiting great lengths of time outside and to best follow Public Health
guidelines.

6.
Classroom teachers will also be communicating with you regarding
items that are in their classrooms that they are unsure who the owner is.  Please communicate with your child’s
classroom teacher before Friday morning, May 1 if there are specific things you
are concerned about
