Memo for Garden Creek Parents and Guardians

Good afternoon, Creeker Families:

We are into Week 2 at the Creek. I hope your child is settling into the new classroom and is enjoying getting to make new friends and increasing their learning.

Safety Reminders

Morning Drop Offs -  Please continue to remember to let your child out through the right passenger door next to the parking barrier.

                                 - Please remember not to go around other cars in line, even if your child has gotten out of the car as we want to avoid accidents

PM Pick Ups - It is nice for the adults  to chat with friends at pick up time , but this is a time when we are loading students onto the busses so it can make  for a busy area that could be unsafe. Please find another place to meet if you want to chat.

Blues in the Schools - our  Harvest Jazz performance is this Tuesday at 1:10 pm. John Campbelljohn, a guitarist and dobro lap steel player will be performing for our students.

Grade 3-5 Art Program - Jennifer Kruger with Estey Creations, will again be holding an Art program at our school on Mondays and Tuesdays starting on September 24 and 25th  and running for 10 weeks. More info to come on this in the coming week.

Meet the Teacher this Wednesday 6:30- 7:30 pm !  - Come on out to meet the staff, learn about the school and your child's class. Meet in the gym at 6:30 pm . This is a meeting for the adults in particular rather than student oriented.

Student Fees and Cashless Schools - If you have not yet done so, please jump to the website right away to pay the student fees . http://anglophonewest.schoolcashonline.com/

Terry Fox Walk - We will be walking around the school perimeter on Friday. Students are welcome to donate a loonie and wear a hat if they wish!

Fluoride Mouthrinse Volunteers Needed- We will be in need of 3 volunteers to help set up the mouthrinse program on a weekly basis. This would entail preparing the fluoride, filling the dixie cups for the students and delivering them to the classrooms. It would take about 45minutes or less, starting at 8:00AM. We can choose the day that works for the three volunteers. Please call or email the school if you are interested in helping out and let us know the days that work for you. I hope to have the program running  by the last week of September.

WELCOME BACK TO THE CREEK!!!

2018-2019 SCHOOL YEAR

Garden Creek Families (Creekers!)

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year at the Creek! We look forward to meeting both our students and their families this week. We also look forward to finding out what “superpowers” each of our students possess, as we are all talented in different ways and can share, learn and grow from each other.

We are all excited to be back but we also know that there may be some anxiousness as we settle into the school year, get to know our teachers and make friends in our classes. Please know that our staff is very caring and will ensure that your child feels secure and happy as we move forward.

This year, we will continue to keep our “eye on the prize” through our school mission– to provide a safe, caring, learning environment where everyone feels accepted and can develop their full potential-  and through our school vision – to develop the skills to become enthusiastic lifelong learners and caring active citizens of their communities.  We will look to both our staff and Creeker community at large to help us in reaching these goals.

First Day of School – Tuesday : Welcome letters have been sent from homeroom teachers through email. Students are to meet their teacher on the playground at 8:00 AM. K-2 will be located on the porch side of the school and 3-5s will be located against the back wall of the school. Students can be dropped off between 7:45 am and 8:15 am.

Bussing – The first week, bussing schedules can be a bit off until the hiccups are worked through. Please check the District website for your child’s bus number. We will be gathering this information the first week to ensure we have complete lists on hand in the office.
