Soldier Biography.JPG

On Monday June 5, 2017 (6:00-7:00pm) approximately 70 grade 8 students from George Street Middle School will open to the public their work and research completed on Great War soldiers honoured on the New Brunswick Provincial Cenotaph. The event will take place in the school's gymnasium.

In addition to an evening filled with poetry, contemporary dance and soldier letters written home during the Great War, on display will be approximately 80 Commemorative Soldier Banners, documents, service records, and biographies of each individual researched by students to date. It promises to be an opportunity to truly gain a sense of loss Fredericton families felt 100 years ago and an opportunity to reflect on what it means to our various communities today in the greater Fredericton region. Most importantly, it is an opportunity to talk with students and for them to share what they have learned about individuals who fought during Ypres Salient battles, the Somme, Vimy Ridge, Hill 70, Passchendaele, and the 100 Days.

This event is open to the public, so please share with your networks, families and friends.
