Post-grad Registration

Students who have already graduated and are looking to upgrade for post-secondary requirements only are asked to come in to fill out a registration form in guidance between August 30 and Sept 5.

We do not entertain accepting post-graduates until our timetable with new registrations is settled and class sizes are levelled. We will offer seats if they are available and the other post-grad requirements are met. This is not a guarantee.

Please watch the website under Quick Links>Guidance for updates. There will be a mandatory information session for post-grad applicants in the second week of school. It will be announced on the website.

2018-19 School Year

The 2018-19 school year is fast approaching! The first day for our grade nine students is Tuesday, September 4th and 10-12’s begin on Wednesday, September 5th. We look forward to welcoming students at that time.

Guidance Counsellors will be in to register students new to LHHS on Wednesday, August 22nd, 2018 from 9-4. We will not be taking appointments or giving out timetables to students prior to the first day of school.

We do look through schedules and continue to adjust changes and level classes right up until start day. Those students who have either not been successful in a course or passed a course in summer school will have had their schedules adjusted prior to start date.

Countless hours and information sessions have gone  into assisting students pick the right courses for their goals in the spring. Our courses and number of sections were then built on student requests. For this reason, changing selections after the fact is not possible.

Only requests for changes due to changes in post-secondary pathways, failures, or missing pre-requisites will be entertained. We will not changes electives students chose in the spring.

Please also note that there are changes in the alphabetical caseload distributions for the upcoming school year:

Lisa Vienneau, Last names A-E

Jane Stinson, Last names F-L

Tracy Gatto, Last names M-Sg

Nancy Stairs, SPR, Last names Sh-Z

Course Selection 2017-18
An important message about course selection for the 2017-18 school year:
Students have now received presentations from their homeroom teachers and guidance counsellors regarding making course selections to meet their individual interests and abilities for next year. Each student also received a copy of the course selection guide. The presentations and a digital copy of the guide are available on the school website.
Students are to pass in their completed course selection sheet to their homeroom teachers this Friday. Their choices will be input in power school during extended homerooms next week.
It is imperative that students take this process seriously and carefully consider their choices as changing their mind come next fall is often not a possibility.
Counsellors are meeting with individual students this week as well, but students are encouraged to complete their selections at this point and they are able to ask questions to the counsellor on duty at lunch time all week this week and next.
A reminder that courses requiring an application must be applied for by the end of March.
Thank you!
