At 6:00 P.M. in the LHHS library, counsellors will hold a half hour information students for parents and guardians of grade 12 students. This meeting preceeds our Meet the Teacher Evening which begins at 6:30 in the gymnasium.
Students need not attend as we will be meeting with all grade 12 students in smaller group sessions for a more detailed presentation the following week. We will then commence seeing grade 12's for one-on-one sessions to review grad requirements and post-secondary plans.

Course Selection 2017-18
An important message about course selection for the 2017-18 school year:
Students have now received presentations from their homeroom teachers and guidance counsellors regarding making course selections to meet their individual interests and abilities for next year. Each student also received a copy of the course selection guide. The presentations and a digital copy of the guide are available on the school website.
Students are to pass in their completed course selection sheet to their homeroom teachers this Friday. Their choices will be input in power school during extended homerooms next week.
It is imperative that students take this process seriously and carefully consider their choices as changing their mind come next fall is often not a possibility.
Counsellors are meeting with individual students this week as well, but students are encouraged to complete their selections at this point and they are able to ask questions to the counsellor on duty at lunch time all week this week and next.
A reminder that courses requiring an application must be applied for by the end of March.
Thank you!

Diversity and Respect Week Nov 21-25

November 21st to 25th is Respect and Diversity Week in NB.
There are three challenges/competitions happening to celebrate this week that they can start working on now:
1.     We are looking for a slogan/original quotation that embraces the theme of Diversity and Respect and shows the type of culture we want to create at LHHS. The winning slogan will be put on a new banner that students can pledge to support. It will be hung in the school.
2.     We are also looking for a new t-shirt design that shares the message of embracing Diversity and Respect in some way. Be creative. We would like to see a visual representation or logo and a message. The winning design will be used to order t-shirts for pink shirt day this year.
3.     We are looking for short (under a minute) videos from classes, student groups, or student volunteers that demonstrate positive messages about kindness, diversity and respect that can and will be incorporated into morning announcements throughout the year if selected.
ALL ENTRIES ARE DUE BY Thursday, November 24th! Please submit to Mrs. Stairs in Guidance.
