Valedictorian selection is starting this week. Interested grads are asked to stop by the office to pick up an application form which is Due April 27th. Please find requirements and guidelines below.


Requirements:


 To
have maintained an 85% average during grades 11 and 12.
 To
have demonstrated public speaking abilities during grades 11&12: Oratorical
contests, production, theatre arts, etc.
 To
have respected the School Code of Conduct during all 4 years.
 To
be recommended by 2 teachers.
To
obtain the endorsement of 20 potential grad students. (a potential grad can
only endorse one candidate)
 To
present the speech that will be delivered at graduation.

 

 Procedures:


 The
completed endorsement form and teacher recommendation must be completed and
returned to the main office attention Mrs. Capson-Daniels by April 27th.
 A
written copy of the speech must be submitted to Mrs. Capson-Daniels by Wednesday
May 4th. Students will present their speeches to a panel on Thursday May 12th.
 The
students will present the final valedictory speech in front of a panel of 8
people= 4 students(2m+2f) and 4 adults(2m+2f) = 3 teachers + 1 PSSC member
  A
rubric will be used to evaluate the presentations.
  An
English Language Arts teacher will be assigned to work with the chosen
candidate to review the speech and make necessary changes.
