The start of the school year at Fredericton High School is delayed two more days.
The new start dates are as follows:
- September 8 - Grade 9 and all newcomer students only
- September 11 – All grades
Students were originally scheduled to start returning to school Tuesday, September 5.
The additional delay is to allow the air handling ventilation units at the school to become fully operational. The units help remove dust that resulted from construction this summer.
Staff and student safety is top of mind when making the decision to delay the start of school. It is important to note that the building is safe. The issue is, needing the necessary time to prepare the school so students learn and staff work in a healthy school environment.
The construction is part of the school's $14.1 million capital improvement plan.
