Jump Rope For Heart

Jump Rope for Heart Fundraiser

Our fundraiser kicked off this week with a great presentation from the Heart & Stroke Foundation. We encourage all families to ask their friends and family to support them in their Fundraising. Just a reminder that K-5 students are not permitted to fundraise door to door.

Students are busy at lunch recess skipping outside and being heart healthy!

Please have your money and envelopes returned to school on Monday, April 23rd.

Our Try for 5 Officially Starts Tomorrow!

The NMS Try for 5 – This School Just Got HEALTHIER initiative is a whole-school challenge selected by the NMS Student Wellness Club to encourage staff and students to eat at least 5 fruit or vegetables a day for the month of February. Try for 5  motivates the entire school body to become ambassadors for healthy eating.

How will “Try for 5 – This School Just Got Healthier” be structured:
 1. Every morning teachers will ask students if they ate 5 fruits/vegetables the day before.

2. Fruits and vegetables that were consumed at home will count towards the 5.

3. If your child ate less than 5 fruits/vegetables, we will count that as well. The goal is to at least eat 5; however, we will count all fruit/vegetables to a total of 5 per day.

4. The data will be recorded by the classroom teacher and posted in each classroom as well as in the hallway. We will have a fundraising thermometer that will update the progress of the challenge.
