Fundraiser #2 -- PRIZE PACKAGE WINNER
The draw for our winner was unintentionally delayed due to the Easter long weekend (Friday, March 30 being Good Friday); as such, the winning ticket was drawn today.
A HUGE congratulations goes out to JAMIE PARSONS! Mr. Parsons is the lucky winner of the March prize package valued at approx. $1800!!!
Rooming & Touring Groups
Ottawa participants met with Mme Cormier today to talk about roommates and touring groups. Students were given an orange Rooming & Touring Requests form and have been asked to do two (2) things:
1) Decide who their roommate will be (must be a mutual decision between both roommates). Roommates must be of the same gender.
2) Decide the group of friends that they would like to spend the bulk of their time with (aka. their touring group). Touring groups will be on the bus together, touring museums together, etc. Touring groups can range in size from 2-12 and are to be decided by all individuals in the group. There are no gender restrictions on touring groups; they may be comprised of both boys and/or girls.
Once touring groups are established, all orange forms for that group are to be assembled and given to Mme Cormier as a package (no individual forms should be handed in).
**If students are having any difficulties with this process, they are to see Mme Cormier ASAP. This is NOT to cause any drama or hardships between friend groups!!**
Forms are due in to Mme Cormier by February 28th at the latest.

Students are reminded that the deadline to hand all fundraised money ($225) and ticket stubs (45) in to the office is THIS THURSDAY, Novemer 23.

Handing In Fundraised $$ and Ticket Stubs
In order to make Mme Cormier's life easier (thank you!), please organize ticket money and stubs like this:
- All money ($225) sealed in either a baggie or envelope and clearly labelled with the student's first and last name.
- All ticket stubs (total of 45) sealed in a separate baggie or envelope and clearly labelled with the student's first and last name.
Ticket stubs AND money are to be handed in to the office, please, as SOON as students are done selling. If students experience any difficulties selling their 45 tickets, do not wait until the last minute to let Mme Cormier know. The more notice that is given, the better the odds of getting all tickets sold.
*Fundraising is not optional; the trip depends on these funds. Failure to fundraise may result in a student being removed from the list of participating students.
Fundraiser #1 -- Starts Today!
Ottawa participants will be receiving 45 raffle tickets each to sell between October 31-November 23.
Each student will be receiving an envelope with their name on it containing their tickets ($225 value). A limited number of tickets has been printed and there are no extras available; once they're gone, they're gone!
Once students have sold all of their tickets, they are to hand the stubs and money in to the office ASAP (do not wait until Nov 23 to hand it in, please!).
The draw will take place on November 30 and the winner will be contacted directly by Mme Cormier and their name will be posted to this webpage.

Wait List & Deposit Returns
The first draft of the 100 participants went up today which also means some students have been placed on the wait list; these decisions kept Mme Cormier up last night as they were beyond difficult to make.
If a student finds themself on the wait list, all hope is not lost. In past years, there has been lots of movement from the wait list on to the list of participants.
Wait listed students will be discussed (Mme Cormier with teachers and admin) on a regular basis and will be invited to join the list of participants when spots open up (for any reason).
Deposits that have been handed in to the office will not be cashed and will be held at the office until pickup is possible.

Deposits are rolling in (thank you!) and conversations have been had (are always ongoing, too!); the preliminary list of participating students will be posted tomorrow, Tuesday October 31, just before noon. Fundraising will begin that same day (Oct. 31) - students will receive their raffle tickets over the noon hour and will have until Nov. 23 to sell them all.
WAIT LIST STUDENTS
Students who do not see their name on the list have been placed on the wait list (the wait list will not be publicly posted). It is very common for wait list students to make their way onto the list of participants. Deposits will be returned to families for all wait listed students and these individuals will not be asked to fundraise.
This is a very exciting time and I am anxious to start working with the 2018 Ottawa crew!

Parent/Guardian Info Session - Meeting Reminder
A friendly reminder to all aspiring Ottawa participants and their families that there will be two information sessions held and all hopeful Ottawa participants must attend one session with at least one parent/guardian/adult representative.
Meetings will be held on Wednesday, October 18 and Thursday, October 19 in the NMS theatre, starting at 6:30pm.
Please note: It is not necessary to attend both sessions as the information presented will be identical. Each student and their adult(s) are asked to attend only one of the two meetings taking place.
Application Process for 2018
Application packages will be made available to students on Monday, October 2. There will be a noon meeting in the theatre for any and all interested grade 8 students; Mme Cormier will be there to explain the trip, participation requirements and to answer any questions; students will come home with a letter explaining the basics and forms that will need to be filled out.
If grade 8 students missed the October 2 meeting for any reason, application packages may be picked up at the office during non-instructional times (nutrition break, activity period, etc).
Students and a minimum of one parent/guardian/adult representative are asked to attend one of two mandatory information sessions that are set to take place on October 18th and 19th, starting at 6:30pm in the NMS theatre.
Please note: There is no need to attend both sessions as they will be identical; attendance at one of the other is all that is asked/required.
This promises to be our best trip yet!
