Posts: NEW Instructional/Bus Times for RMS 2020

8/20/2020 7:44 PM by amanda.piron

Good Morning RMS
Families,

Due to Covid-19,
there have been changes to our instructional time/bus routes to accommodate
multiple bus runs to ensure safe transportation to and from school.

Please note that
these times have been constructed at the district level based on:

Article
18 of the Collective Agreement that outlines hours of instruction (at the
maximum level)
Bus
requirements with revised schedules to accommodate expected changes to
parameters on the school bus due to COVID-19

Please note new school hours for 2020-2021:

RMS Start Time: 9:20am

Buses will arrive at RMS beginning at 8:35am-9:15am.

Walking students should not arrive at school prior to 9:00am.

Students may be dropped off no earlier than 8:30am. The school is
locked and there is no supervision for students until this time.

Walkers will be dismissed at 3:40pm.

Pick up begins at 3:45-4:00pm.

Buses depart RMS at 3:45-4:00pm.

Please
note: Although the deadline for opting out of transportation was August 7,
parents/guardians can still formally opt-out after this date by contacting the
ASD-W Transportation line (357-4256 Oromocto Education Centre - Transportation).
Likewise, you can “change your mind” and opt back in if need be.

We need your support in respecting our new schedule to ensure the
safety of our staff, students, and families. We ask that you be prompt with
drop off and pick up.

To prepare for the fall, we would ask that you please add the
following two items to your child/ren’s supply list. A water bottle (clearly
marked with student name)
as water fountains are no longer in use, however,
we now have water refill stations. Multiple masks (clearly marked with their
name)
, as they are mandated for students in grades 6-8 in common areas of
the school (both inside and out). Students are expected to bring a clean mask
daily. We would ask that masks are not in use they be stored in a Zip Lock bag
with their name clearly marked.

We are committed the safety of our community. A detailed Operational
Plan will be distributed and posted to our school website in the weeks to come
once it is approved at the District level.

Thank you for your cooperation. We recognize that there are
changes to your routines. We appreciate your support as we develop plans to
ensure safety.

If you have any questions, please reach out. We look forward to seeing
you in the fall.

Enjoy the sunshine!

Kind regards,

Amanda Piron
