Hello SCS families,

Welcome back to
school and a special welcome to our new students and their families. The staff
and I are looking forward to an exciting year of learning at Stanley
Consolidated School. Please join me in extending a welcome to our new staff
members: Mrs. Katie Long (First Grade), Ms. Danielle Brewer (Second Grade until
November), Mrs. Lacey Hennigar-Lemon (K-4 French Learning), Mr. Robert Crousse
(Trades), and Ms. Karla Roy (Acting Vice Principal, Language Arts/English). I
am also new to the role of Principal. Although this is a new position, I have a
14-year history with SCS in different capacities including teacher, parent, and
PSSC member. It is my honor and privilege to be at SCS and I look forward to
working with you over the next five years.

We welcome all
students on Tuesday, September 7th, except for our Kindergarten
students. These families would have received a letter from Mrs. Morehouse
indicating their first day and pick up times. If they are not taking the bus, students
can be dropped off at the lower parking lot. There will be staff at the library
doors to welcome them into the building and direct them where to go. Please
note that adults are not allowed in the building at this time. The exception is
for both Kindergarten and new student guardians on their first day. Masks are
required for all in common areas. The parking lot can be a very busy place with
both vehicles and walkers. Please remember to use the lower parking lot and keep
your speed to a maximum of 20 kms/hour on school grounds to keep everyone safe.

Student drop starts
at 8:00am.
Something new this year is a first recess from 8:00-8:15am for
K-5. These students will go directly to the playground off the bus or if
students are being dropped off, they can make their way through the school to
the playground. Middle and High school students can go to their homeroom class
upon arrival. The first bell is at 8:15 for all students with homeroom from
8:15-8:25. Homeroom will be extended on the first day to get settled. K-12 dismissal
is at 2:45.

Paperwork will be
coming home over the coming days from both classroom teachers and the office.
Please complete and return this information as soon as possible. Our
Administrative Assistant is Cheryl Reid. She can help if you have any
questions. The school number is 367-7690. There is a student fee for all
students of $25 with a maximum of $65 for families. Please use School Cash
Online. If this is new to you, you can register on the ASDW website. The fees
will be entered sometime this week.

Cafeteria service
will begin on Monday, September 13th. Only high school students are
permitted to leave school grounds at lunch time.

Please review the
Covid Protocols sent out by the district. All students are required to wear a
mask on the bus and in common areas. Please send extra masks with your student
as well as a water bottle. Our water fountains remain turned off except for
filling. Masks will not be required outdoors or in the classrooms. As we
learned last year, these are subject to change without warning. The students
made the transitions last year with a great show of adaptability. Let us hope
that this year restriction changes will only include further loosening.

If your student is new to the
school or anxious about starting a new school year, please help with their
adjustment by reassuring and encouraging them that new friendships will be made,
old acquaintances renewed, and they will have a great year of learning. Before
you know it, students will quickly settle into their classrooms and new
routines.

Our
expectations are high for all
