​This week students participated in safe schools week. We planned and practiced ways to be safe at school and prepared ourselves in case of emergencies. Please talk with your child about these practices, so they can share with you what they learned.

The weather has been holding up nicely for us and we have enjoyed some gorgeous afternoons. However, please keep in mind that most mornings are cool and to be sure your child is dressed appropriately.

Reminder PL day- This week we have a Professional Learning day on Tuesday. School will dismiss at 11:00am. Please be sure your child’s afterschool care is aware of the changes.

Picture Retakes- Picture retakes are on Wednesday, October 25^th.

Movie Night- Friday will be a pajama day for all followed by a movie, popcorn, and pizza afterschool in the gymnasium if your child chooses to participate. This year our Home and School has purchased a licence to show movies as part of fundraising initiatives. We will have a few more movie events as the year goes on. This movie event is for students, but we will have family movie events also where everyone is invited to join. Funds raised at these events will go towards school initiatives in numeracy, literacy, and enrichment. Cost of this movie event is $10- this includes popcorn, drink, pizza, and a movie. Grades K-2 can stay right here after school from 2-3pm and they will participate in games, activities, in the school library with parent volunteers. When grades 3-5 dismiss we will all meet in the gymnasium for the movie. We are really looking forward to this fun evening!

Parent Volunteers- We are looking for a few parent volunteers from 2-3:15pm on Friday, October 27^th to help with our K-2s for afterschool before the movie. If you are available and willing, please contact the school.

Chapters Fundraiser- We will be asking for a few parent and student volunteers to greet customers at Chapters on November 1^st and ask them to mention McAdam Avenue upon check out. A link will be sent home for you to sign up to help out. Chapters will then donate a portion of their sales that evening to MAS. So please invite friends and families to do their shopping at Chapters on November 1^st from 6-9pm. 

Hot Lunch- This week we will have hot lunch on Thursday, and Friday.

Monday October 23^rd -   Gr 3-5 Choir at lunch recess.

Tuesday October 24^th - Professional Learning Afternoon. Dismissal at 11:00am

Wednesday October 25^th - Movie forms and money due back.

Thursday October 26^th - Pizza Hot Lunch. Etsey Art After School Enrichment for grades 3-5 (3-4:30pm). Hot lunch order forms are due (no late orders accepted)

Friday October 27^th - Pajama day and movie afterschool. Hot Lunch- Tots n’ Taters. Santa’s Little Helper fundraising forms and money due back.

Upcoming Important Dates:

October 31^st- Halloween. Dress in black and orange (no costumes)

November 1^st- MAS fundraiser at Chapters 6-9pm.

November 2^nd - York Care Visit

November 6^th- EYE-DA screening for students entering into Kindergarten

November 9^th- PSSC orientation at Oromocto Education Centre @ 6:30pm

November 10^th- No school for students. Full day Professional Learning for Teachers

November 13^th- No School (Remembrance Day- in lieu of November 11^th)
