Memo to Garden Creek Parents and Guardians

Good afternoon Creeker Families,
I hope you had a good weekend and enjoyed the hot weather. Here are some notes and dates for you:
Class and Staffing Changes - thank you for your emails and phone calls in regard to the upcoming class changes this week. I have tried to answer everyone to the best of my ability and will continue to do so. Please continue to communicate your concerns and questions to either myself or the District. A thank you to Mme. Patterson as she moves on to a new position. We welcome her back at any time and know that her new school will be fortunate to have her.
EARLY DISMISSAL THIS TUESDAY - a reminder that there is an 11 am dismissal this Tuesday as it is a professional learning day for staff. Students who are bussed will be following the Wednesday bus run
Bottle Drive for the Red Cross - Thank you for all your generous donations of recyclables on Saturday. We are waiting on a final tally later this week. Thanks as well to some of our Creeker Staff for making this possible!
Orange Shirt Day - This coming Friday, in conjunction with many schools through the District, Garden Creek is planning to celebrate Orange Shirt Day to commemorate residential schools. We encourage students to wear their favourite orange shirt to school that day Students will be watching an age appropriate video of a read aloud that commemorates residential schools. It is a time to listen, learn and celebrate Aboriginal culture.
PSSC Meeting this Tuesday - in a separate communique, we informed you of our first PSSC meeting this Tuesday at 6:30. You can still apply to be a member by sending me an email. See you at 6:30 Tuesday!
Phys. Ed/ Wellness Night -October 5 - we hope all our Creeker families can come out for our night! An announcement was sent out on Friday and we would like to know by this Friday if you are coming so we can better prepare materials. Come and be well with us!
Terry Fox Walk - we will be having a school walk around our grounds this coming Thursday at 1:00 pm to commemorate Terry Fox. If you would like to make a donation to the Terry Fox Foundation please send it in with your child. A dollar is even great! :) Here is a link to a song that the students will be learning so that you can sing along with them.
