Hello MAS Families! We have had a wonderful week back to school. Students seemed rested and ready to learn. There were lots of smiling faces around the school this week and it was so nice to see. The weather even warmed up, so we got lots of outside time.
School Hours- Just a reminder of the importance of students being on time for school. Our first bell in the morning is at 8:10am. We realize at times there are circumstances that occur that prevent us from getting to school on time, but we ask that you please try your very best to arrive by bell time. When a child arrives late it not only disrupts the start to their day and they miss out on instructional time and learning, but when they enter late it also disrupts the whole class. Please let us know if there is anything we can do here at school to help with being on time.
Outdoor Clothing- Please be sure your child is coming to school dressed for outside in the mornings. It is also good to have a complete set of spare clothing in your child’s bag in case they get wet at recess times.
Lice- It is that time a year again that head lice is back. Please check your child’s hair frequently to help prevent the spread of lice. If your child does have lice we ask that you notify the school and treat your child prior to their return. Please look in the documents section then under sub heading- Health for more information on lice detection and treatment.
Hot Lunch- February hot lunch order forms will go home on Monday and are due back on Thursday, January 25th. Please note this month we will credit for the pizza day that was missed on December 14th. On your pizza form if you had credit it is indicated for you. Also, with Tuesday February 27th being a half day for students, we are offering Great Canadian Bagels that week on Monday.
Milk Orders- Milk order forms are due on Friday, January 19th.
UNB Varsity Reds Men’s Hockey Team Northside Elementary Schools Night will be taking place on this Friday, January 19th at the Aitken Centre. This is one of the most exciting nights of the year for both for our students and the Varsity Reds. This year’s game will be broadcast live on Bell TV1 Friday Night Hockey game on Bell Channel 401. Great chance to show Atlantic Canada just how loud and proud our students can be in cheering on the Varsity Reds. Families interested in attending will have to go to the Aitken Centre Box Office to pick up both your child’s free ticket and the parent ½ price ($6.00) ticket. Parents can get your ½ price ticket on game night, but we encourage you to pick them up by 4pm on Friday, January 19th as tickets tend to sell out fast. Both the parent and child must have a ticket to the game. Our school will have an assigned section at the rink, when parents pick up their tickets they just need to say what school they are with. The Aitken Centre Box office is open from noon-4pm Monday to Friday.
Hot Lunch- This week we will have hot lunch on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Monday January 15- PSSC meeting at 6:00pm. Choir & Drama. Hot Lunch order forms go home.
Tuesday January 16 - Great Canadian Bagel. Intramurals.
Wednesday January 17 -
Thursday January 18 – Mad Science Presentation. After school program forms to go home.
Friday January 19- Milk Order forms are due. Northside Schools Night at UNB Hockey game @ 7:00pm. Hope to see you there!
