Hello MAS Families! We have
had lots of fun learning take place this week. Grades K-4 had a visit to the
superstore to learn about healthy foods, the star program on labels, about
lobsters, and then returned to school to make a snack for our entire school.
Our k-2s made us delicious muffins and our grade 3/4s made us yummy smoothies. Next week our grade 4/5 class will be
going to the Superstore.
We are also excited for a
'Seusstastic' week this coming week! And we will also be celebrating the 100th
day of school, and Pink Shirt day in support of Anti-bullying.
Reminders:
Pink Shirt day- Wednesday, February 27th is Pink Shirt day. Students are
encouraged to wear pink shirts to show their support to anti-bullying. This day
was inspired
by an act of kindness in small-town Nova Scotia and is now intended to raise
awareness and support for anti-bullying programs.
Breakfast Program- Tuesday - This Tuesday will be cereal with fruit
smoothies. When the students arrive at school, if
they wish to come have breakfast, please remind them to come in our grade 3-5
door. We will take off our boots, put our coats and book bags in classroom
then head down to the gymnasium to enjoy breakfast together. When the bell
rings and once students are finished, they will head up to class to
start their day with full bellies.
Skating-
On March 1st we will be going skating. The location has changed- we will now
be at York Arena. K-2s skate 9-10am and 3-5s skate 10-11am.
Parents are welcome to join us at the arena.
March Nutrition Month- With March being nutrition month we have received a great
little guide on ideas for breakfast, lunch, and snacks for kids. We will be
sending them home this week.
Seusstastic Week-
Monday Feb 25- Mixed Up Monday- "Why fit in, when you were born to
stand out". Crazy hair and outfit day. Papa John's Hot Lunch.
Tuesday Feb 26- Top Hat Tuesday- Cat in the Hat day-
Wear a crazy/favorite hat. Outdoor Activities Day and 100th
Day of School. Tot's and Taters Hot Lunch. Hot Lunch Orders due back for
March. Mad Science afterschool program.
Wednesday Feb 27- We Care Wednesday-
"A person's a person no matter how
small". Anti-Bullying Day- wear pink. STAR Student assembly.
Thursday Feb 28- Lorax Day- Wear Orange and a Mustache.
Great Canadian Bagel hot lunch. Grade 4/5 Superstore visit.
Friday March 1- Sleep Book day- Wear your favorite PJs, skating daySleep Book day- Wear your favorite PJs, skating day. Tots n' Taters hot lunch. LHHS Clubs.
