The second and final phase of the multi-year upgrade project is underway at Fredericton High School.
 

Work will include improvements to the security infrastructure and mechanical and electrical systems, as well as interior finishing.

Phase 1 of the project began in June 2016 and is now complete. It involved renovations to two of the school’s three gymnasiums, including new change rooms with barrier-free facilities; new mechanical ventilation systems; new flooring in the weight room and training facility; and structural upgrades to masonry walls in the gymnasiums. 

The upgrades will address deficiencies within the school’s infrastructure, modernizing the building and extending its use by at least 30 years.

The scheduled completion date for all the work is fall 2018.

On April 12, Deputy Premier and MLA for Fredericton North Stephen Horsman visited the school to tour the project along with Principal Shane Thomas and from Anglophone West School District: district education council chair Kimberley Douglass; Sub-District 6 DEC member Stephanie Halsam, Wayne Annis, director of schools, Fredericton Education Centre; and Dwight Currie, assistant manager, facilities. ​
