District News: Confirmed Case of Covid-19 at Hartland Community School - Distance Learning Thursday and Friday (Oct 7 & 8)

Title: Confirmed Case of Covid-19 at Hartland Community School - Distance Learning Thursday and Friday (Oct 7 & 8)
Body: October 6, 2021

Dear Parents and Guardians of Hartland Community School,

We have been informed of another positive Covid-19 case at Hartland
Community School. We are working with Public Health officials to identify any
students and school personnel who may have been in contact with the case.

Anyone required to self-isolate will get a letter from Public Health with
specific instructions on what to do next. For those who are impacted,
the letter will be emailed from your school principal or a designated
staff member tomorrow. If
you are not contacted, your child can continue with regular activities as per
the provincial regulations in place.

Due to the continued
number of cases arising at HCS, we will maintain distance learning for all
students for the rest of this week. This means students will
not report to the school for regular classes on Thursday or Friday (October 7
and 8). Your school will communicate a plan for learning with you. We
recognize that the opportunity to connect with the school may vary among
families. Please do not worry if you cannot connect. We understand that this is
short notice, and we will adjust as required.

We will connect with you again on Monday, October 11 through School
Messenger to share the next steps.  As noted yesterday, the new rapid
testing program is scheduled to begin Tuesday, October 12.

Please remember, if your child is showing any symptoms of Covid-19, you
should:

Register them online for a
test by clicking “Get tested” on the GNB coronavirus website (www.gnb.ca/coronavirus). OR
Contact Tele-Care 811. The
811 operators will evaluate your child before sending them for testing.

If you have questions that are health-related, please write to COVID-19NB@gnb.ca

We appreciate that this has been a difficult time for many at HCS.
Thank you for your commitment to safety and student learning.

Sincerely,

David McTimoney, Superintendent
