Saint Mary's University Writing Centre

Each year, the Saint Mary's University Writing Centre offers graduating high school students an opportunity to experience university life, as well as an introduction to post-secondary academic skills.  Over a period of two days, the Summer Writing Workshop familiarizes students with university-level writing and critical thinking, building on skills acquired in high school.  The workshop is August 15th and 16th, 2017.

Please note:  students do not need to be attending Saint Mary's to participate in the workshop.

Saint Mary's University Grade 11 Event

From July 22nd to July 23rd, Saint Mary's University will be hosting their annual Out-of-Province Grade 11 Event.  This event is designed as an opportunity for grade 11 students who are heading into their grade 12 year to fully experience a university environment and what Saint Mary's has to offer.  Students and their parents stay on campus, attend sessions highlighting the student services at Saint Mary's, have a guided campus tour, and a tour of Halifax.  All accommodations and food are provided. 

This event is open to all grade 11 students living more a 2 hour drive outside of Halifax.

​The New Brunswick College of Craft & Design will be holding their 19th Annual Fashion Show on Saturday, April 22nd at 7:30pm at the Fredericton Convention Centre.

Scholarships for Summer Program

For the past 10 summers, Berridge Programs has been welcoming students from around the world to the Chateau le Mont Epinguet in Normandy, France to live in the community, develop their unique talents and experience another culture.  Their program offers the perfect blend of performing arts camp and travel abroad experience.  You can read about their program at www.berridgeprograms.com

Humanities for Young People

The University of King's College in Halifax, NS is hosting Humanities for Young People this summer from July 7-16.  Students in grades 9-11 are eligible and can apply online with a brief statement of their interest in the Humanities and a letter of recommendation from an adult who knows them. 

The fee, $1,100 includes accommodation, meals, materials, lectures, and excursions.  Bursaries will be available to students with financial need, and they also have a number of full scholarships available to Indigenous students.  The deadline for applications i June 1, 2017.

Leadership Training Camp

Students in Grade 10 and 11.....  Applications for The Royal Canadian Legion New Brunswick Command Leadership Training Camp are available in the Guidance Office. 

The camp is at Mount Allison University in Sackville, NB, July 9th- 16th, 2017.

The camp is not an "Activities" Camp but a Leadership Camp where leadership is taught through activities.  "Leadership" is an attitude of mind which may be developed or discovered.
