Waylon the Coyote here! Can you believe it is already December?!? Mrs. Tucker and her elves have done an amazing job turning KVMS into Who Ville. Our school is such a welcoming place for family and friends in our community. December is a busy month here at KVMS. From We Day to the Science Fair, to student-led sock hops, and hosting the District badminton tournament – KVMS is a happening place to be!
We have been fortunate in terms of weather; however, it is getting colder. Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately to enjoy the winter wonderland that is upon us. Being active and getting fresh air are important components to being mentally fit. We love to bring learning outside so please make sure warm winter gear is packed every day.
Middle school students just celebrated their academic achievements during the Breakfast of Champions tradition. We invited our students to enjoy a full hot meal provided by the cafeteria. We recognized all of the great things our middle school students did last term and took time to celebrate their successes. Thank you to Mrs. Manzer for capturing our memories made in middle school with a slideshow.
Grades 3-6 have been reading Wonder as a read aloud and had the privilege of going to a private screening of the movie – how cool is that?!? What a powerful message the movie had to share. It is a friendly reminder to be kind to one another. I would highly recommend this movie, it is a MUST see!
December, so many events that you need to know about. To kick off the season, we held a school wide PJ day on Dec. 13. Staff and students came to school dressed in their favorite PJs. Everyone was treated to a cup of warm local apple cider and cookies. This event sure got everyone in the holiday spirit. The concert will take place on Dec. 15 with two show times at 9 am and 1 pm. Please come join us! There will be raffle tickets on beautiful baskets up for purchase on the day of the concert – thank you for your contributions to the baskets. Please bring your change and help us raise money to improve our Amy Horton Memorial Track.
Our student leadership team has been busy hosting activities this month to increase student involvement and make connections. The staff took on select students (grades 5 - 8) from a random draw in a game of floor hockey on Dec. 13 at noon. I was in the cheering section chanting “Go STAFF Go!!! The staff won the match and earned full on bragging rights. Student leaders will be selling holly-o-grams (flavored candy canes) for $1.00 each from Monday, Dec. 17 - Dec. 21. What a great way to help raise money and send that special someone a sweet treat just in time for the holidays. Our SOM assembly is on Thursday, Dec. 21 – please wear your ugliest Christmas sweater – I hear there are prizes to be won! Friday, Dec. 22 is early dismissal for our students – the busses will leave the school at 11:15 am.
From my family to yours, have a safe and happy holiday! Spread the joy of the season with the gift of giving from the heart. -Waylon
