Recent Kindergarten Pictures

Thank you to each of you who were able to attend our Meet the Teacher Night last night!  It was nice to meet each of you once again and have an opportunity to share a bit more about what our year will look like.  If you were unable to make it, you can expect some handouts in your child's communciation binder this Monday. 

Upcoming Dates for This Week:

• Picture Order Forms are due on Wednesday, Sept. 20th.
• Please return your child's library book by Wednesday, the 20th as well so that they will be able to sign out another book this week.
• If you would like to order Scholastic books, feel free to send your order forms in by the deadline and I neglected to mention that you are now able to order online using a credit card and you simply enter your child's teachers' name to ensure it arrives at the proper school.  It is a very simple process.

Learning Outcomes:

Numeracy:

• We have been working very hard at recognizing numerals and sets of objects to 5.  The children are becoming quite proficient at subitizing. 
• ​are also working on counting sets of objects using one to one correspondence.  (touching each object as you count to keep track of it.

Literacy:

• We continue to focus on following routines and taking turns speaking and listening, raising our hands etc..
• ​our name in print and printing our names.
• We began learning about rhyme this week and have had some fun listening to rhyming songs and playing rhyming games.​

You and Your World:

• We have been focusing on what makes us special and unique.  We began with our names and moved into our families. 

Upcoming Outcomes:

We will continue to focus on alphabet and name activiites over the next couple of weeks and then move into letter and sound recognition.   We will also begin learning sight words.  In math, we will continue working with numbers to 5 but we will also learn about MORE and FEWER and we will begin our PATTERN unit shortly.
