Dear
Parent and Guardians,

I
am proud to say our class did great during safe schools week. They were all
good leaders for the rest of the students through all our drills. I hope you
all got a chance to talk about this with your child.

Reminders:

DEC Meeting- On Thursday
October 25th we will be holding our second sustainability study
meeting. Hope to see some of you there.

Halloween
Howl-

our Halloween Howl event. Anyone can attend but children must have bracelets to
do activities. These bracelets include pizza, activities, drinks and a treat
bag (you can buy the bracelets and food online as well). We are still looking for cake/cupcake donations for the cake walk
room. Please contact the school if willing to donate. It is going to be a lot of
fun and I hope to see everyone there! Don't forget your costume

Playhouse Field trip- On Monday October 29th we will be going to the playhouse to see
Robinson Crusoe and Friday. The show is at 11am.

What we are learning this week:

Literacy: This week we are
starting our word work program “words their way”. Students were assessed to
find words that meet their level. Each week they have new words lists to do
activities with to enhance their understanding of the word and its phonics to
improve spelling. We will also be looking at some examples of book reviews,
which will be the student’s next writing assignment.

Math: We are continuing
our whole numbers math unit. We will be looking at representing and describing
numbers. We are refreshing our memory of place value and what each represent.
As well as ordering and comparing larger numbers.

Science: Our habitat unit
is slowly coming to an end. While discussing habitat loss students expressed
interest in endangered animals. Now we are working on a mini project about endangered
animals. Students got to pick an animal and are working to collect information
on that animal, their habitat and how they have become endangered.

French: The students are
learning vocabulary to describe themselves and the members of their family.
Given the time of year, we will also be discussing Halloween.
