We had a busy, fun and educational week leading up to Remembrance Day.  The students had valuable and insightful comments to share with the class about Remembrance Day and peace.  They did a beautiful job singing "Peace Like a River" at our assembly with Mrs. Penney's and Mrs. Davis' classes. 


I hope each family enjoyed a wonderful weekend and took time to reflect on the many blessings we have living in our beautiful nation.  Thank you to all past, present and future service members for their sacrifices day in and day out, some giving the utlimate sacrifice to pay for our freedom. We will always remember with gratitude and thankfulness.

Learning Goals for this upcoming week:


Literacy:  Please continue to review daily our sight words and sounds.

Jolly Phonics:  Oo, Uu 


Phonemic Awareness:  Segmenting sounds in words (c- a- t,   p - i - g)  This skill will greatly improve their writing. 


Writing:  We are continuing to tell stories through pictures and recording beginning sounds in words we are writing.


Numeracy: 


We will continue to work on recognizing, naming, extending and creating patterns this week.  In our number strand, we will be working on numbers that come before and after numbers to 10 (ex. what comes after 6?  what comes  before 5?), counting forward and backward to 10 from any given number (ex. start at 3 and count to 9, start at 7 and count to 1), and we will be learning about combinations to 5.  (ex. 3 and 2, 4 and 1, 5 and 0). 


You and Your World:


Social Skills:  Dealing with individual frustration and frustration with peers.  We will also be disucssing "mistakes" and how mistakes are a part of the learning process that help us grow and deepen our understanding.
