I hope everyone
enjoyed their snowy long weekend. Since it is getting colder please be sure
students are dressed for the weather (hats, mittens, snow pants…etc).

 

Reminders: 

 

 
 

No School- Reminder
there is no school Friday, November 23rd. 

 

Book
Orders:
Just a reminder book orders are due back November 27th.
I will be placing the order that day after school. You can put in orders online
under our class name or give it to me in your child’s communication bag.

 

Parent- Teacher Interview
Times- 
Parent Teacher interviews will
take place this coming week during your scheduled time on Thursday.,
November 22 evening or Friday, November 23 morning. If you are unable to
attend during the two days, please feel free to let me know and we can schedule
an alternate time to meet.

 

Hot Lunch- Order
forms are due back on Thursday, November 22. 

 

Report
Cards- 
Report cards for term one will be sent home on Tuesday, November
20.

 

Clothing
Exchange- 
Reminder that we will are still looking for
winter clothing donations. Clothing can be dropped off at the office
during school hours.  During Parent Teacher interview days the
clothing will be out in the gymnasium for families to browse through and
take as needed.

 

PSSC
and Home and School Meetings
- Our meetings will now take
place on Tuesday, November 20.

 

Christmas
Families
-
We are reaching out to our school community to see if any families are in need
of extra support this Christmas. The past year with support from staff, school
community, and a few other local groups we were able give a little extra help
to 8 families. If you feel you could use a little extra help this

by November 28th. Please note that names are kept strictly confidential.

What
we are learning this week:

 

 
 

Literacy: We are continuing to work on reading
strategies as a class. We are also going to be looking at how we can compare
and contract different texts. We will begin with our two class novels by the
same author. We will look at how they are similar and how they are different.

 

 
 

Math: This week we are continuing our unit
on multiplication and division strategies. These strategies will help students
quickly and effectively solve multiplication problems without having to
memorize everything. We have been working with arrays and fact families.

 

 
 

Science: This week we are starting our
properties and changes in matter. We will begin with some introductory
activities, describing changes and defining what is matter. This unit provides many
hands on activities and experiments for students.  

 

 
 

Health: Students are finishing their
brochure about stress management this week. We will also be have some
discussion about personal safety.

 

 
 

French: We have begun our unit on family and
close friends in French class. We will be doing various activities that include
vocabulary relating to family.
