Dear Parent and Guardians,

I hope everyone had a lovely
weekend. I hope the students got to share stories from our recent trip to York
Care. The residents loved seeing the students and everyone was on their best behavior,
I was so impressed!

This week is a very exciting one; we
have a lot of fun theme days and activities. It is our Dr. Seuss week; we will
celebrate anti-bullying day and the 100th day of school. Take a look
at the list below so all the students can join the fun J

Reminders:

Book Orders: March book orders are due
back March 22nd.

Superstore Visit:
Our class will be heading to the Superstore to learn about healthy eating. We
will be there from 9am-10am.

Pink Shirt day- Wednesday, February 27th is Pink Shirt day. Students are
encouraged to wear pink shirts to show their support to anti-bullying. This day
was inspired by an act of kindness in small-town Nova Scotia and is now intended
to raise awareness and support for anti-bullying programs.

Skating- On March 1st we will be
going skating. The location has changed- we will now
be at York Arena. K-2s skate 9-10am and 3-5s skate 10-11am.

What we are learning this week:

French: In French, we are continuing
with our food unit. We will be looking at Canada’s new food guide, learning new
vocabulary, how to express our likes and dislikes when it comes to food. We
will be reading books about food and writing a few short paragraphs on this
topic as well. This week I am going to have students record what they eat in a
week (for breakfast, lunch, dinner and a snack). This will go along well with
our Superstore visit, which will be in French as well. When we come back, we
will use our new knowledge of healthy food to make a snack for the school.

Math: In math, we will continue to
work on decimals. We have looked at place value and are continuing to compare
and order fractions. If students are ready to move forward, we will be working
on adding and subtracting decimals. This week we will also be working on 100
day of school activities by relating fractions and decimals.
