Science Test Friday

Hello everyone! This is a quick note to let you all know that we will be having a science test (to finish our unit on 'light') this Friday, Jan. 10th. Here is what students should know:

Translucent: Allows some light to pass through (with examples)
Transparent: Allows all light to pass through (with examples)
Opaque: Does not allow light to pass through (with examples)
Light travels in a straight line in all directions until it hits something.
How to change the size, shape, and location of a shadow. You might also be asked to draw the location of a light source or a shadow based on a given picture.
What objects might cause light to reflect, and what the properties are of materials that reflect light.
How a prism works.
The definition of "concave" and "convex".

Students can take their foldables home that we made in class to help them study. I would also encourage students to practice these concepts using a flashlight and objects that can be found at home.

Here are some helpful video links:

A great video with information about reflection:

Some great examples of 'concave' and 'complex': Expamles of Concave & Convex

Good information about light and prisms: Light & Prisms

Good luck, and happy studying everyone!
