Posts: Math questions for homework

Today we looked at examples of how to evaluate questions that require order of operations AND have fractions.  I reminded the class of the following:

BEDMAS

B - brackets (take care of any operations inside of brackets first)

E - do any exponents

D/M - division and multiplication, whichever comes first working from left to right

A/S - addition and subtraction, whichever comes first working from left to right

I also reminded the students about fractions:

addition or subtraction of fractions - fractions MUST have the same denominator (common denominator)

Multiplication of fractions - multiply numerators and multiply denominators (straight across the top and the bottom)

Division of fractions - flip the second fraction and multiply

For multiplication, remember to simlify by finding common factors between numerators and denominators (cross out and simplify when you can)
