Today we started work on our new unit on fractions. In period 1 we reviewed how to write equivalent fractions and how to add fractions with the same and different denominators.

In our second period of math we had a smartboard lesson on what it means to multiply a fraction by a whole number (e.g. 2 x 3/4) and how you can show this with an area model or on a numberline.

Homework tonight: complete the worksheet on adding fractions with unlike denominators.
