ED:4565 - ESL (English Second Language) for Classroom Teachers Summer 2014

This course is designed for classroom teachers, or future classroom teachers who have English Language Learners (ELLs) in their classrooms.  Topics to be examined include; Second Language Learning and Acquisition, Sheltered Instruction (The SIOP Model), Assessment of ELLs, etc ...  The purpose is to present concrete strategies based on recent research.  Participants will finish with a “Tool Kit” of ideas, techniques and practical suggestions.

 
The course will be offered this summer (2014) at UNB Saint John beginning of Monday, July 7th to Friday, July 11th, 2014.  For more information, please contact Dr. Paul-Emile Chiasson, 648-5782, pchiasso@unb.ca .
 
Cost:  Application fee - $55.00
            Course - $640.50 – 3 credit hours
            Course - $340.00 – no credit hours

 

AEI (Atlantic Education International) will be offering *4 - $250.00 bursaries.  Selection will be based on the following criteria and must be submitted to Lynn MacDonald (Lynn.MacDonald2@gnb.ca) on or before June 27, 2014:
 
Submit a 350 word piece that best demonstrates the following:
·        Your experience and involvement working with English Language Learners/International Students and how would you use this training to further support your work in the classroom?
 

*If there are less than 4 applicants, this amount may increase.
