This school year in Anglophone West School District, there are five early dismissal days for students to provide professional learning opportunities for teachers:
- Tuesday, September 26
- Tuesday, October 24
- Tuesday, February 27
- Tuesday, April 24
- Tuesday, May 29
This new model aligns with best practice and ensures
consistency with all school districts in the province.
“As teachers learn and grow, so do their students,” said
Catherine Blaney, Interim Superintendent, Anglophone West School District. “"Professional learning for teachers
creates better student learning and is the key component to improving teacher
practice.”
On these days, there is early dismissal from school for
students who will attend classes in the morning.
The overall amount of professional learning time in the
school calendar remains the same as previous school years. What has changed is the format and quality of
the professional learning, while keeping students in school as much as
possible.
