ASD-W Schools “Stand Up” to Bullying

As National Bullying Awareness Week takes place from November 17-21, schools in Anglophone West will be placing an increased emphasis on their work to support a positive learning environment for all students, free from bullying. Bullying Awareness Week is about prevention education and building awareness of the issue by promoting a culture of respect and empathy for others. The theme of this year’s activities, “Stand Up (to bullying)” highlights the role that all individuals can take to support those who may be experiencing bullying situations. Research has shown that it is the power of the bystander which plays a key role in overcoming bullying. Students in ASD-W will participate in many activities throughout this week that will highlight the importance of standing up for others.
