Weekly Messages, November 8, 2016

Hello! Today is Tuesday, November 8th and this is Ms. McGrath calling with a few messages for Raiders and their families.
We would like to remind families that this Friday, November 11th is Remembrance Day and there is no school for students on that day. We will be holding school Remembrance Day ceremonies for our students on Thursday, November 10th.
I would also like to explain the District’s new system for calling home when a student is absent from school for all or part of a day. This system sends out automatic notices for all absences that appear in our system. This is similar to the system that the local High Schools have had in place for some time. You will get a notification even if you have sent in an excuse or have already notified us about the absence.
If you receive a notice and you think your child was supposed to be in school that day, then we would suggest you contact us to find out more information. If you receive a notice and you knew your child was absent, please disregard the message.
I also wanted to let families know about some upcoming events. We have just held tryouts for badminton and that season runs for the next 4-5 weeks. In December, we will hold tryouts for basketball. The basketball season runs from December 19-February 24th.
Ski Club information will soon be available and I hope to attach that information to next week’s message. Ski season runs for six weeks in January and February.
That is all for this week. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions by calling 738-6511 or e-mailing me at trudy.mcgrath@nbed.nb.ca
Thank you and good evening.
