Hello! Today is Tuesday, December 13th and this is Ms. McGrath calling with the weekly announcements for Raiders and their families.
Our 3rd annual Turkey Luncheon is scheduled for this Thursday, December 15th. We are happy to report that 175 Raiders will be participating in this year’s luncheon and one dollar from each luncheon will go to support families in need in our community.
Please remember that there is no regular cafeteria service on Thursday so if you have not ordered a Turkey plate, you will have to bring your own lunch on that day.
Many student activities ongoing this month:
1. Me to We fundraising for our school in Nicaragua and supporting students at Centennial School by volunteering at their Christmas Bazaar.
2. Badminton is winding up and Basketball tryouts have begun.
3. Gr. 7 participated today in a presentation from local musician Tim Blackmore. Mr. Blackmore comes every year to play his harpsichord for the students. Period music and the study of different musical instruments is part of our Music curriculum and the students always enjoy his presentation.
4. On Monday, December 19th the entire student body is headed into the Imperial Theatre for a presentation of TNB’s “The Snow Queen”. We will be gone most of the morning and may have a modified lunch schedule that day so keep this  in mind if your children have appointments on that day.
5. Our Christmas dance is scheduled for next Wednesday, December 21st (it was originally on Thursday but we had to reschedule). The Dance is $5 and runs from 6-8 pm. Students may dress up in holiday wear or “come as you are”. Chef Frank will provide canteen services.
6. Friday, December 23rd is the last day of school before the Christmas break and ASD-S has set a dismissal time of 11:30 on that day. Although teachers return on Monday, January 9th, students are not scheduled to return to school until Tuesday, January 10th. Please mark the date on your family calendar.
