Hello! This is Ms. McGrath calling with a final message for all Gr. 8 Raiders who are headed to Quebec on Wednesday morning.
I have attached the trip itinerary for your convenience and it will also be posted on our website under “Raider News”. It appears that some of this group of our Gr. 8 students are having difficulty sharing trip information  with their families, so I am sednign this e-mail (for the first time ever) to ensure the information is shared.
Some information and some tips we have found useful in the past:
1.       We depart promptly at 7:30 on Wednesday morning. Students should be at the school by 7:00.
2.       Students will meet with chaperones prior to boarding the bus and we will be checking baggage for any inappropriate items.
3.       Students may not have any items that they are not allowed to have at school (pocket knives, lighters, vapes etc.) and cannot bring any liquids with them. Drinks must be purchased en route or, they may bring an empty water bottle and fill it at the school on Wednesday prior to departure.
4.       Dress code and all other school rules apply while in Quebec and the students are all under the direct supervision of the chaperones. Parents cannot call or text to override any of our decisions or rules while on the trip.
5.       All medications must be listed on medication forms and passed to chaperones to carry. Epi-pens, asthma inhalers, insulin and vitamins are the only medications students should keep with them. Prescriptions as well as Gravol, Tylenol etc. must be handed over to chaperones.
6.       Students need some spending money for meals and souvenirs. We suggest $100 as a more than generous amount of spending money necessary for the trip.
7.       We have a walking tour scheduled on Wednesday evening in Quebec before we check-in at the hotel. Students need to pack accordingly as they will not have access to the suitcase under the bus until hotel check-in. This means, then need to have good walking shoes and clothes and a jacket on the bus with them when they board the bus in the morning. If they are not wearing these items in the morning, they should be placed in their book bag and not in their suitcase.
8.       The weather forecast is calling for rain. Please consider packing rain gear and more than one pair of shoes.
9.       If you need to reach your child for an emergency while they are in Quebec, please do not contact them directly. Contact the school and they will have a chaperone call you back. Upsetting news should be filtered through the adults to ensure your child is supported by staff during any difficulties.
10.   If you are sending students with a debit card, please make sure the students know how to use the card and the card will work in Quebec.
11.   Wifi is not always available so students should discuss data usage with you prior to departure to avoid any excessive phone bills.

We are looking forward to having a great trip with the Gr. 8s and not have to deal with any of the issues above, but I thought it would be useful to review these items one more time before departure.
See you on Wednesday morning!
