 IVS Messages for April 15

NB  Soap Box Derby – is back!!! IVS is excited to announce that our PALS at Fundy Engineering are sponsoring IVS in the event. To select our driver and pit crew, students in grade 5 can write a persuasive letter to explain why they would be a great choice to be a driver or pit crew member.  Students in grade 4 are able to do the same for the role of pit crew.  These letter must be submitted to the office by Thursday, April 21st and completed on the students’ own time so this weekend is a perfect opportunity for those interested.  Good Luck!

Raz Kids – we want to thank our Home and School for continuing to support the online reading program Raz Kids again!  This is a huge benefit for teachers and to families at home to support reading development.  If you are unaware of how to use or access the program for your child at home please contact your child’s teacher.

IVS Fun Day - Planning has begun for our annual Fun Day at IVS.  As usual, this will be a fun-filled morning of face painting, games, refreshments and more!  The date for this year’s Fun Day is June 22nd and we are seeking volunteers!  In order to have a successful Fun Day we need a minimum of 5 volunteers from each class including a Class Representative, volunteers to help run games, a kitchen helper and a face painter.   We are also seeking the use of a truck for the day and generators to run the bouncy castles.  The time commitment is approximately 4-5 hours.  If you are unable to attend during the day but still want to help out, we will be seeking donations of food for the children.  For more information or to sign up to volunteer, please contact Sharon Gerrits or Julia Halford, Fun Day Co-Chairs at IVSFunDay@hotmail.com.

Morning Drop Off Concerns – we have been receiving some concerns about our morning drop off area.  These include: vehicles running idle for long periods in the drop off/parking zone as well as cars not yielding to our busses as they exit the property. We are asking that families make every attempt to expedite their drop off due to the high volume of traffic in the morning and remind folks that traffic is to yield to busses.  Thank-you for your cooperation with this matter.

West Side Parent Information Sessions (@ St. Rose School)  - there are a number of community presentation taking place in the weeks ahead when may be of interest to our parent/guardians.  Please see topic, date and times below.
·         April 26th – Anger In Children – Beth Keyes 6:30 pm
·         May 19th - Project ROAR -  Jessica Lanigan at 6:30 pm – There will be content regarding how to talk to your child about their body and appropriate touching. The presenter has experienced sexual abuse so she is very frank but professional in her presentation of material. This is the reason we ask for ONLY parents.

Hot Lunch – our next round of online orders are scheduled to open on April 8th and close on April 25th for our May order up until May 27th.

Please note: Friday, April 22nd and Monday, April 25th are professional learning days for teachers and no school for students.
