Students enter the building at 8:30 to be in class for 8:35 when they unpack their bags, get ready for the day.  Students are to be standing in class at 8:45 for O Canada when instruction begins.  If a child is arriving after O Canada, they need to be signed in at the office by a parent.  Do not simply let them enter the building by themselves.
K-2 bus drivers have asked me to remind parents that someone needs to be present to greet the students at the end of the day.  They have to be able to see a face.  It is not sufficient to say if the car is in the driveway, drop them off.   If there is not a person there, the student will be returned to the school.
Grade 4 students will be going on a train trip on Friday of next week thanks to NB Southern Railway.  They will have a presentation on Train Safety prior to this.  They should be getting a permission slip sent home outlining all of the rules connected with this trip.
Westfield School will help you figure out supper for the 4th Wednesday of every month.  Order $25 online or in the store at Papa John’s and 20% goes to Westfield school if you enter or say westfield25. The next date is October 25th.
Westfield school has an Emergency Measures plan and we practice fire drills, lockdowns, and different scenarios on a regular basis in the hopes that we never have to actually have a true need to use these procedures.  The town and the RCMP have copies of our plan.   We will be practicing a lockdown one day next week.
Next Wednesday is a half a day.  Teachers will be doing Professional learning in the afternoon.  Busses will be departing at 11:30.  Parents and guardians should have filled out a sheet indicating the plans for a half day.  We will be adhering to what was sent.
October 24th is our first PreK event where parents come to the school.  Discussions about Kindergarten Readiness will be held and questions can be asked.
October 27th – Mr. Warner and his Westfield Leadership Team are organizing a Blue Fox family dance.  It will be spooktacular!  Friday Night 6-8.  A paper notice with an RSVP already went home.  We hope that you saw it and returned your slip.
Wear warm clothing on those cold days.  Students who have been wearing shorts and t-shirts have asked if we are staying indoors since they are cold.  I have said no – it is important to dress for the weather.
