Messages February 11th, 2015

Hello! Today is Wednesday, February 11th and this is Ms. McGrath calling with a few messages for Raiders and their families.
First of all, as you probably know from the calendar in the school agendas, this Friday, February 13th is a Professional Learning Day for teachers and there is no school for students on that date. As well, the first week of March (March 2-6) is our annual March Break week.
This week in Internet Safety Week and classes are reviewing safe internet practices. We encourage families to have a discussion about Internet Safety at home. If you are looking for resources to support this discussion we recommend www.saferinternetday.org.

National Sweater Day promotes environmental awareness and encourages everyone to wear a sweater and turn down the thermometer to reduce fuel usage. Our original day was “snowed out” so we are encouraging students to wear their most colorful sweaters tomorrow. There will be prizes!

Next week, the local High Schools hold their annual Open House event for Gr. 8 students and their families. More detailed information will be going out directly to our Gr. 8 students who will be registering for High School at the end of February. We also have an information night scheduled here at RVMS for Gr. 5 families who are interested in our Late French Immersion Program. That is scheduled for next Tuesday, February 17th.

We practiced our Lockdown procedure today. The students were amazing and we had a very successful drill. Staff will be reviewing the drill and making any necessary improvements to our emergency procedure plan. We welcome feedback from parents and students as well. If you or your child have anything to pass on to us, please don’t hesitate to drop me an e-mail.

One last item today. I would like to remind all families that our regular hours of instruction begin at 8:40. Students should all be in class by this time. If you are driving your child to school, please make sure they are in the building by that time each morning.

That’s all for today! As always, if you have any questions or concerns about these announcements or anything else at RVMS, please do not hesitate to call me on my direct line at 738-6511 or e-mail me at Trudy.McGrath@nbed.nb.ca

Thank you and good evening!
