Weekly Messages, December 1, 2015

Hello! Today is Tuesday, December 1st and this is Ms. McGrath calling with the weekly messages for Raiders and their families.
We would like to extend congratulations to our Me to We members who travelled to Halifax for We Day Atlantic last week. Special thanks to Mme. Thorne and her excellent group of parent volunteers for their time and effort with this. We are also very, very proud to announce that Colin O’Brien, a Gr. 8 Raider and three year member of our Me to We group, was awarded the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award at a ceremony in Halifax during the event. Amazing job Colin!!
I would also like to thank all families who took the time to participate in our Parent/Teacher meetings last week. One of the greatest things we can do for our children is to have Parents and Schools working together to support and encourage student learning. Thank you to all families from all of our Raider Staff.
Now some upcoming events:
1. As you probably know, we regularly practice emergency procedures here at the school and that includes a lockdown practice at least once each school year. Our lockdown will happen in the next few weeks. Please have a look at the parent letter attached which gives instructions for parents in the event of a school lockdown.  This will also be added to our main webpage at rvms.nbed.nb.ca under the General Information tab. Teachers are reviewing procedures with students this week. If you or your child has any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us here at the school.
2. School clothing orders are now being accepted and a copy of the order form is attached to the e-mail version of this message. All orders need to be placed no later than this Friday, December 4th. If you have any questions about specific items, please feel free to contact our vendor, McCluskey Brothers at 738-1985.
3. Tickets are now on sale for our 2nd Annual Chef Frank Turkey Luncheon. This will be held on Thursday, December 10th but tickets must be pre-purchased by Monday, December 7th. The lunch consists of Sage Roasted Turkey, Mixed Garden Vegetables, Buttered Mashed Potatoes, Savory Pan Gravy, a Buttered Crusty Roll, Chocolate Mousse with Candy Cane Crunch and a beverage. The cost is $8 with $1 going to support local charities. Chef Frank has also arranged for all students who purchase a dinner to be entered into a draw for some great prizes!!
That is all for this week. As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at trudy.mcgrath@nbed.nb.ca or on my direct line at 738-6511.
Thank you and good evening!
