Hello! Today is Tuesday, October 24th and this is Ms. McGrath calling with a few messages for Raiders and their families.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, October 25th is another of the District half-days for students. We will begin to dismiss our students at approximately 11:20 as the buses arrive and expect all students to be headed home by 12:00 noon.
Thursday, October 26th is our first school dance of the year. The dance runs from 6-8 pm and is open to all students. The cost for the dance is $5 and Chef Frank will also have a canteen available. Since this is Halloween season, we are encouraging students to wear a costume to this dance. Please keep in mind that masks are not allowed. Students must also arrive at the school with their indoor shoes in their hand (not on their feet and not in their locker).
Friday, October 27th is Raider Colours Day….please wear red or black to show your school spirit!
I also want to remind parents once again that our school day goes to 3:10. Leaving before 3:10 is a privilege and students may be required to stay until 3:10 on any given day. We ask that families support this expectation and not schedule students for any afterschool activities or responsibilities that would require them to be able to leave the school early.  
Also, Report Card season is just around the corner. If you are looking to have a conversation with your child about school, the information about the new grading system is posted on our website and attached to this message. Ask your child to speak with you about what the new achievement levels and learning habits mean? Can they identify an area where they feel confident? Is there an area they think they need to improve? This is a great opportunity to have a discussion with your child about school…and hopefully get some more interesting answers than you get when you ask “ How was school?”
