Principal's Message ~ Friday, August 25th, 2017

Forest Hills School

We Build Inclusion, Capacity, and Learning Communities

August 25th, 2017

This is a message from Mrs. Savoie, principal at Forest Hills School.

I hope that everyone enjoyed the summer break.  It’s hard to believe that the students will be back to school very shortly! Enjoy those last few days!

I just wanted to remind FHS families that we will be hosting our PSSC and Open House Event next Wednesday evening starting at 5:30.  We will gather in the main gym briefly before visiting classrooms.  We are very fortunate to have the Saint John Y Service Club and Loyalist City Rib Fest 2017 sponsor our BBQ this year.  We will end our evening with a BBQ and music in the back yard.  This is a fun way to kick off the year, while also meeting the teacher and hearing a bit about curriculum.  We have found it alleviates a lot of first day stress for students to get to see their classroom ahead and drop off their supplies.  We hope to see you there!

The Saint John Ex will be hosting a free 1 mile run/walk on Thursday, August 31st with the chance to win $1000 to donate toward their team of choice.  One of our students won last year and donated it to the school for new basketballs and pinnies.  Make sure you check it out!

ASD-S has a new web service for transportation called “Bus Planner.”  We would encourage all parents to register for this service.  Not only can you search for your child’s bus information, you can sign up on the parent portal and receive alerts on your child’s bus regarding late buses, cancellations, break downs, etc.  You will need your child’s student number to register, so we will send those home the first week.

Finally, I wanted to send a reminder to the guardians of Kindergarten students that there is a staggered entry.  Walking students only will attend on Tuesday the 5th and bus students only will attend on Wednesday the 6th.  All K students will go to school on Thursday the 7th.  The first day for all of our grade 1-8 students is Tuesday the 5th

We’re looking forward to another great year here at Forest Hills!  Please remember if you every have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact us!

Remember Falcons, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe!

See you all soon,

Melissa Savoie
