The staff of Princess Elizabeth School believe that the artistic, physical, emotional, social and intellectual needs of children must be met for effective learning to take place. We believe we are responsible to challenge each child to reach his/her potential as a life long learner. Our school strives to provide a safe, supportive environment that promotes responsibility, self-esteem and encourages each child to relate to other persons in a sensitive and respective manner.
Princess Elizabeth offers academic programs in English for grades K-8. We also offer Late French Immersion for grades 6-8. An ESL (English Second Language) program is also part of our regular school program for students in their first year as English Language Learners (ELL).
Princess Elizabeth School offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities. This includes a full athletics program (intramurals and inter-school sports), chess club, science club, school dances, leadership committee, Green team, ski program, winter carnival, band, choir, school trip (grade 8), drama, French camp (grade 6), and more.
Princess Elizabeth School was opened in 1949 and at the time was considered a state of the art building. Since that time it has served generations of northenders and will continue to be a focal point of the community. We have a full gym, technology lab, art and music rooms and a multi -purpose room. We have two playground structures outside, one for K-2 students, the other for grade 3-5 students. We have a full sized field that is used both by the middle school and the community. The outdoor classroom featured above was added in 2013 though generous support of the Kiwanis Club of Saint John.
