E.M.O. Plan for Woodlawn Learning Centre
SEPTEMBER 2011
1. Problem within building requiring evacuation of building. Follow fire orders in each classroom and reassemble on the basketball court or parking lot closest to the basketball court (during winter months).
2. Problem within building requiring lockdown. A message using the keywords “Code Yellow” will indicate to teachers to keep students in their classroom until further notified using “Caution Removed”. Teachers are responsible for closing their classroom door, refusing washroom visits or any reason for students to leave the room. Teacher will also gather the students in the least obvious area of the classroom and keep them as quiet as possible.
3. Problem inside or outside building requiring evacuating to a nearby school, either Bayside Middle School auditorium or Bayview (Simonds Middle School) gymnasium. Evacuate according to number 1 and then you will be informed which school to proceed to.
4. Evacuation of entire area – we will contact District E.M.O. Committee and follow their directions as required.
5. All bus trips must have the student names and phone numbers of students on each bus trip at that time. Office will maintain a duo-tang of names and phone numbers to be used on these trips. Teachers responsible for the handling of this duo-tang.
6. Teachers should be aware and make their students aware of the locations of the school phones and how to use them (i.e. dial 9 prior to dialing 9-1-1), along with knowing the school’s address and phone number.
7. Students and parents are made aware that there is on E.M. Committee and a plan in place.
