Principal's Summary
Numeracy Summary

We are very pleased to say that our k -2 students met their goal in numeracy for the year.  Half of our 3 – 5 students were below expectations and our middle school students were close to what we had forecasted.

Meetings were held between administration, resource teachers and homeroom teachers to go over results from intervention blocks that took place during May and June.  Discussions on the types of interventions used, pre-tests and post-tests results and observations during these interventions were also on the agenda.  During these meetings, tier 1 and tier 2 interventions were planned for the fall.
Math booklets were also prepared for students and sent home with the reports cards in order for them to practice fluency and accuracy of the basic facts.

PROVINCIAL STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT

Positive Learning, Work & Environment Plan (PLWEP)
PLEP

Goal 1: Good citizenship and civility are modeled and reinforced throughout the school community. Every person is valued and treated with respect.

Goal 2: School personnel and students in the public school system have the right to work and to learn in a safe, orderly, productive, respectful and harassment free environment.

Principal's Summary
PLEP Summary

We altered our time table to ensure that K-2 / 3-5 / 6-8 students were well monitored.  This eliminated having 200 students on the playground at one time.

We educated our students on our expectations and practiced repeatedly to ensure that everyone is clear on how to be successful. We created a social club at recess and noon hour to help students work on conflict resolution, sharing, communicating etc.

We created a learning playground / cafeteria to help the students be successful when they are struggling with the rules. This allows an adult to help them work on the skills that they need and transition "back" into the playground / cafeteria.

We created an office referral form to help track student behaviour as well as educated staff on being pro-active & rewards based as opposed to reactive and consequences based.

Areas of focus identified by School Review
Review Report

Opportunity to address more enrichment activities for students who are excelling at the curriculum outcomes should be increased.  (We have addressed this by providing intervention time blocks for all students to increase their learning.  Enrichment units have also been created among teams of teachers.  Technology has also been used to increase learning opportunities.)

Formalizing and analyzing data in the areas of stretch learning, student engagement and personal skill development were at the beginning stages.  (We have addressed this by ensuring all teachers have stretch learning opportunities within their daily lessons.)

Potential Direction for 2015-2016 based on this report
Direction

We will be including an intervention time block for each grade level where interventions will be taking place in a 6 week rotation between literacy and numeracy. Our resource team will also be involved with the Tier 2 interventions during these intervention blocks.

We will be developing specific end of year school improvement plan goals for each grade level for numeracy and literacy instead of grouping into K-2, 3-5, 6-8.

We will continue with the co-teaching model with our resource team and we will be arranging our educational support staff team minutes to schedule teachers to attend our meetings every 6-8 weeks to discuss their pre & post test results with their Tier 2 interventions.

We will be developing teaching videos to showcase our school wide expectations to our students. We will also be developing posters to post in main areas of the school to showcase our school wide expectations to our students.

We will be developing a "catch of the day" positive behavioral reward program where one student will be announced daily on our announcements for their positive behavior.
