Thisbusy week at AES! and Thank Yous!

Good evening AES families. Today is Monday, October 23rd.

Boy, do we have a busy week ahead of us!
Tonight we have our Kick Off to Kindergarten at 6:00. Parents of the K-class to come in the Fall will be treated to information about their child's development and events that will take place over the year to help prepare their child for school next year. Our numbers are down a bit - are there any others out there that have not been in to see us as yet?
Tomorrow evening PSSC members are encouraged to join me at the DEC Training evening in Hampton.
Wednesday is the October 1/2-day. Students will be dismissed at 11:00 for home. Staff will be learning more about preparing the new Provincial report cards that are only a few weeks away.
Thursday is Picture Retake Day. If you want your child to have retakes, you should have indicated so by returning the portion of the photo envelope to the school. These students along with those that missed the first photo day will be the only ones to be called down to the photographer.
And Friday the Pumpkin Man will be here. Every year the Reickers have arrived with a truckload of pumpkins for each child to choose one to bring home. Pumpkins are $1.00 each. Please send your money in as we do not want disappointed children.
Also, I would like to take this opportunity to thank many of you for your support this past week. Thank you to the Home & School mothers who came to work on our playground last Monday (Great timing btw!); thank you to all the parents, students, and siblings who made our Environmental Science Night such a success (over 100 people participated and $160 was raised through our bottle drive!); and also a thank you to the Home & School parents who supported our kids with bagging groceries at Sobeys on Sunday ($611 was raised during this time!)
Well, have a great evening everyone and a good week ahead!

October 16th voicemail

Good afternoon AES families. Today is Monday, October 16th.

The first note to take from this afternoon's message is that there is a Home & School meeting this evening at 7:15. All are welcomed to attend. There will be a short PSSC meeting just prior (at 6:45) to finalize DEC training numbers and to recognise our PSSC Chair for the year.
Secondly, tomorrow is the third Tuesday and Hot Lunch & milk orders for the month of November are due. Please be sure to get these in as deadlines must be followed to insure accuracy of orders.
And finally, a reminder that we will be holding a special event Thursday evening here at the school. Our Environmental Science Night will have us hosting a number of organizations that have lots of information to impart. This is also in conjunction with the Science East presentations in each of our classes during the day. As in the past, the kids will be excited to go through the hands-on displays that Science East will provide during the evening. Come out, enjoy the science, and learn alongside your child. It can be so much fun to learn together.
That evening we will also have a truck here to collect your recyclables. We will be doing our part to keep these out of landfills and provide a small fundraiser for our playground.
Thanks for your attention. Have a great evening!

Good evening AES families. Today is Tuesday, October 3rd.
Attached to this email you will find your October Newsletter and Calendar. In keeping with Provincial and district initiatives to save paper consumption and make information available in the modes most preferred, these documents will be provided electronically each monthly. You can find a PDF copy on our school website as well, for quick reference. If you have not provided us with an email address, the paper copies will be home either today or tomorrow. Should you require a paper copy of these documents, please send a note to that effect in your child's agenda and we will add you to that list.
Also, school picture money was due on Monday (the date indicated on the photo envelope). We will be accepting these until Thursday at the latest. After that time you will be responsible to send your payment directly to Harvey's Studios. Picture retakes will take place on October 26th, but we must have an indication that you wish to have your child's picture redone. There is a tear-off portion on the envelope that should be returned to the school. On that day, only the students that we are aware need retakes are directed to the room and then the photographer moves on to the next school.
Thank you for your attention. Have a great evening!

Good evening AES families. Today is Sunday, October 1st.

First is a repeat of the notice that went home with each child on Thursday - notification of our annual school evacuation drill. This will take place tomorrow morning as we take the children to the ACC (our off-site evacuation center). Please see that your child is warmly dressed and has appropriate foot wear for the walk. As part of our emergency preparedness it is important that we manage the student body with the personnel normally available so parent volunteers are not required for this drill.
Secondly, a reminder that we still have a number of outstanding student fees. If this was just an oversight please send in the $15 asap as Friday was the deadline. If you are having difficulty with the fee, please contact the school and arrangements can be made.
We will still take Toonies for Terry even though the walk was last week. Our school donation to the Terry Fox Foundation will be sent in within the week.
And, finally, more information will be forth coming about a special Environmental Science Event on the evening of October 19th. We are excited to have parents and students join us for an informative night sponsored by AES and Science East. Also, in association with this, our staff is sponsoring a bottle drive that evening. Save your recyclables and place them in the truck on your way in to the school. Proceeds from the bottle drive will go toward the upgrading of our Primary playground equipment.
Thank you for your attention. Have a great evening!
