Gr. 7 Immunization Clinic June 11 & 12

Message to Parents/Guardians re Human Papilloma Virus Vaccination Clinic During School Closure, June 2020

Immunization is a very important public health measure in maintaining the health and wellness of a population.  Public Health Nurses were unable to provide the grade 7 Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) second dose of the vaccine in April due to the closure of schools.

The grade 7 HPV immunization clinic to provide the second dose has been scheduled for:

DATE Thursday June 11 and Friday June 12

CLINIC LOCATION Hampton Middle School GYMNASIUM

All grade 7 students who have previously returned a signed consent form, (in the fall of 2019), and have received the first HPV vaccination, will be offered the second HPV vaccination, to complete the two-dose series.

We will be adhering to strict social distancing guidelines during the immunization clinic and we ask that students:

·       arrive at the school at their designated time frame (see below)

·       wear a mask or scarf, covering their mouth and nose

·       enter the school alone

o   The process will take ~30 minutes so parents are welcome to wait in their vehicle or leave the school property and return to pick up their child within the ½ hour time frame

o   If your child requires an aide or assistance, you are welcome to accompany him/her to the clinic however, you must also adhere to social distancing guidelines and wear a mask

·       practice hand hygiene and cough/ sneeze etiquette

·       wear a short sleeve shirt to ensure easy access to the arm

Staff will meet students at the lower entrance of the Gymnasium and ensure the 2-meter (6 foot) physical distancing. They will have hand sanitizer, to provide to the students, as well as masks for those who do not have adequate mouth and nose coverage.

If on the day of the clinic, your child has any of the symptoms outlined on the gnb.ca/coronavirus site, please call 811 and do not go to the

school. An appointment to receive the second HPV vaccination can be scheduled at your local Public Health office by calling 432-7527 press 1, once your child is feeling better.

Every effort should be made to attend DURING your designated time slot listed below. If you require an alternative time, please call Carmen Atkinson Public Health Nurse at 434-3849 prior to the clinic to schedule an appointment for your child’s immunization.

HMS Retrieval of studnet Belongings

HMS Retrieval of Student Belongings

On Wednesday, May 6 and Thursday, May 7 we will be offering time to pick up student belongings from school. This will take place in the form of curbside pickup, with only staff entering the school. We will employ a drive-up location at the gym exit based on your child’s homeroom (see chart below).

·         We ask that parents drive down into the gym parking lot at the far end of the school, tell us your child’s name, and give us a moment to retrieve their bagged belongings (including any assistive technology), which will be labelled and ready inside. Once parents have retrieved the personal items they are asked to loop back out and exit. In order to keep the process quick with a safe flow of traffic staff members will be in place to assist you.

·         If you are picking up for siblings, please be sure to communicate all children’s names and homerooms to staff when you arrive. There is no need to make multiple trips at different time.

·         Returning a team uniform? Please make sure it is bagged and labelled with your child’s name and give it to the staff person on duty.

·         Should you need another adult (other than a parent/guardian of record) to pick up your child’s belongings, please email Mrs. Ketchum-Boudreau at theresa.ketchum-boudreau@nbed.nb.ca. We will not release your child’s items unless this communication has occurred prior to scheduled pick up time. We also ask that they come at the appropriate homeroom time.

·         Unable to pick up or arrange for pick up at your child’s scheduled time? There will be an evening pick up on Wednesday, May 6th. Please email Melissa.Sheppard@nbed.nb.ca to reserve an appointment time for this evening.
