Wellness:

Grit Group Grade 7: Your meeting is happening Period 3 today.

And UBU QMS meets today in the Wellness Centre at 12:10. All are welcome!

Tech:

The Tech Room is only open for grade 7 students with Tech work to complete.

Music:

This is a reminder to Singing Club members of your special concert project today.  Please come to the music room at 11:40 this morning.  This is also a reminder that your after school practice today has been cancelled.

Sports:

All Varsity basketball players are reminded to bring their washed uniforms to Ms. Hannam this week!

Today, the Varsity Boys have their final tryout 3 – 4:30, and the JV Girls will have their first tryout 4:30 – 6. Tomorrow, the JV Girls will have their second tryout, followed by the Varsity Girls practice from 6 – 7:30.

Intramural Volleyball: Team names with Captains will be posted by lunch today. Games will start Tomorrow at lunch. A schedule for this week will be posted by lunch today. Games will be played starting tomorrow, the first game during the first half of lunch and the second matches will be played during the second half of lunch. Please bring your lunch to the gym on the days you are playing. 

Other:

Get your answers in for the 3 math questions posted across from the gym on the calendar board. You can solve 1, 2 or all 3 questions, write your answers on looseleaf and please indicate if your answer is for the Hard, Harder or Hardest question when submitting to the office. Correct entries will be entered for a weekly prize draw.  Three new questions will be posted every Friday and students will have one week to submit their answers. Good luck!

Tech:

Again this week, the Tech Room is only open for grade 7 students with Tech work to complete.

Music:

This is a reminder to Singing Club members of your special lunch time concert tomorrow.  Please plan to come to the music room tomorrow in the last 10 minutes of period 3.  This is also a reminder that your after school practice tomorrow has been cancelled.

Sports:

Congratulations to the Varsity Boys basketball team for their great efforts at provincials this weekend. After a tough semifinal loss to Barnhill, the boys battled back to beat Maplehurst in the bronze medal game to finish in the top 3 of all middle schools in the province! Well done team! Players of the game were awarded to Max J, Gabe V, Jude R, and Emmanuel G. Hustlers of the game were Max J, Gabe V, Emmanuel G, and Ian S. Max J was also a team all-star for the weekend. Great job boys!

Congratulations also to the Varsity Girls basketball team who left if all on the court this weekend in a tough tier 1 division at provincials. They fought hard in some very close games but came up short in the end. All players should be proud of their positive attitudes, aggressive play and great sportsmanship all weekend. Your coaches and school are very proud of you!

That’s a wrap on a very successful QMS basketball season! All Varsity players are reminded to bring their washed uniforms to Ms. Hannam this week!


Turning to Volleyball, Varsity Girls will have their first team practice today afterschool from 3 until 4:30pm. The Varsity Boys Volleyball team will have a second tryout today from 4:30 – 5:30.

Tomorrow, the Varsity Boys will have another tryout 3 – 4:30, and the JV Girls will have their first tryout 4:30 – 5:45. A sign up sheet will be posted outside the gym today so please remember to sign up before tomorrow!

Finally, Ms. Hannam is still looking for a faculty member to oversee the VB volleyball team. If you can help out, please see her asap.

Students interested in being an intramural volleyball referee/ score keepers can sign up outside the gym – there will be a meeting today during the second half of lunch for the referees/score keepers.

Do you like Math, are you up for a challenge? Beginning last Friday, 3 math questions (Hard/Harder/Hardest) were posted across from the gym on the calendar board. Students can write their answer on looseleaf and submit it to a folder in the office for viewing. Correct entries will be entered for a weekly prize draw.  Three new questions will be posted every Friday and students will have one week to submit their answers. Good luck!

Two of my favourite things being celebrated today. It’s International Chip Day and it’s Pi Day! March 14, Three Fourteen 3.141592653589 and on and on forever!

This morning grades 7 and 8 classes will be called to the gym around 9:15 am. As Mr. Stu’s email indicated, classes should place items in their lockers before coming down. The assembly will begin at 9:30 and last about an hour. Teachers should sit with their classes.

Note to students who go to the cafeteria second half of lunch. The weather and ground conditions have now improved so beginning Monday, the cafeteria will be closed during the second half of lunch. All students will need to go outside or to an open classroom. As usual, be sure that there is an adult supervising the area and be sure to have a plan before the 12:10 bell rings.

And a note about morning entry to the building. Students with classes on the top floor, you enter through the portable end doors. Students with homerooms on the bottom floor, you enter through the office doors. Line up with your grade level.

A note for outside play at lunch. If you use balls from the equipment bag, please stay away from the parked vehicles! Staff witnessed several vehicles being hit by balls yesterday, not good! Duty staff, please move students away from the vehicles. Beginning next Monday there will be an extra duty person outside to monitor the parking lot.

Note to students who go to the cafeteria second half of lunch. The weather and ground conditions have now improved so beginning Monday, the cafeteria will be closed during the second half of lunch. Art:

Grade 6 Art & Poster Club will meet after school today until 4:00.  Today, you’ll be helping out with yearbook photos.

The Art Room will be closed during second half of lunch today.

Congratulations to ALL members of the Art & Poster Club who participated in the Drug & Alcohol Abuse Awareness poster contest. Your posters were colourful, creative, and you shared positive messages about healthy choices – well done everyone!  You made it quite difficult for the judges! The contest has concluded and the results are in, so the following students should come to the office during second half of lunch today to receive your cash prizes:

No open gym at lunch today. No open gym tomorrow morning. 

Today after school the Varsity Girls Basketball team practices 3-4:30, followed by the Varsity Boys Basketball from 4:30 to 6.

This weekend, both varsity basketball teams will be competing in Provincials, good luck teams!

The Varsity Girls Volleyball team has been selected and the team list has been posted outside the gym. Thank you to everyone for all of your hard work. Practice tonight has been cancelled due to illness - the first team practice will be on Monday March 17 from afterschool until 4:30pm and again on Wednesday, March 19 from 6-7:30pm.

A new club is starting today! Today, during second half of lunch in M. Le Clair's room, the first meeting of the Pokemon Trading Card Game Club will meet. If you are a fan of Pokemon, stop in and check it out!

PRIDE Passes: A grade 8 student volunteered to set up pylons in the morning. A grade 7 student offered to get the iPads for the class. A grade 6 student helped clean up a lab after making lip balm, another helped a classmate clean up water on the floor. All so very helpful!​

Varsity Boys Basketball practice after school today from 3 – 4:30 and tomorrow 4:30 to 6.

Varsity Boys Volleyball will have their first tryout today, 4:30 – 5:30pm. Sign-up sheets are posted outside the gymnasium. A second tryout for Varsity Boys is scheduled for next week.

Varsity Girls Volleyball Tryouts the call back list has been posted and you are invited to attend the tryout tonight from 6 -7:30pm. The next tryout will be Thursday from 6-7:30pm.

We are still looking for a staff member to serve as Faculty Rep with the Varsity Boys volleyball team. If you can help out, please let Ms. Hannam know ASAP.

Attention Grade 6 students, a reminder that the Gagaball pit will not be open for play at lunch time today.

A note for all classes, as announced yesterday, the African Drumming presentations this morning have been cancelled. Everyone will follow the regular schedule.

If any classes have can tabs, please send them down. I’ll be taking the bin to the recycling centre tomorrow morning and would love to fill it up.

A reminder to Art & Poster Club members:  Posters for the Knights of Columbus contest should be submitted to Mrs. Stoddart today along with your signed permission form.  The art room will be reserved today at lunch for Art & Poster Club members finishing up their posters.

Attention Grade 6 students, the Gagaball pit will not be open for play at lunch time today or tomorrow. Behaviour was poor yesterday and students were not respectful. You can try the pit again in March. As a side note, cafeteria behaviour was very poor for a few tables as well, I expect better behaviour today.

A note for all classes, unfortunately, Mercy is not feeling well so she will not be here to do the African Drumming presentations tomorrow. We will follow regular classes tomorrow morning.

Art:

Congratulations to the Varsity Boys for their victory over Sussex yesterday! With their win, the boys locked up the Hampton Ed Center Basketball banner. The boys next game is after the March Break when they compete in Provincials.

Today, the Varsity Girls practice 3 – 4:30 and the Varsity Boys practice 4:30 – 6.

There will be NO after-school Art & Poster Club after school this week due to a scheduling conflict.  Instead, this week the art room is reserved at lunch for Art & Poster Club members working on their posters, or for Grade 6’s who need to complete their monochromatic paintings.
