This is a message from Mrs. Blanchard, Principal at Hampton Elementary School.
REVIEW OF THIS WEEK: It has been a great week with a beautiful Remembrance Day ceremony on Thursday. Thank you to parents and special guests who were able to join us for this assembly. Our word of the week was incessant means to continue nonstop or never ending (ceaseless).
Diversity and Respect Week: Diversity and Respect Week begins on Monday in all New Brunswick schools as part of a provincial effort to support a safe, welcoming and affirming school environment for all students. At HES we will be discussing being kind to one another and spreading gratitude as well as sharing children’s literature that teach about diversity and challenging gender stereotypes.
2016-2017 New Brunswick Elementary Student Wellness Survey – Parent survey coming home Monday, Nov. 14th! The New Brunswick Student Wellness Survey is a provincial initiative. The survey gathers information from students in grades 4 and 5 and parents/guardians of students in grades K to 5. On Tuesday, November 15th, our school will be participating in this survey, as we aim to improve the health and wellness of children in our community. If you would like more information on this survey, please call the New Brunswick Health Council at 1-877-225-2521.
In our weekly Tuesday assembly we will be welcoming special guests Garth and Helena Miller. Garth and Helena are the race directors for the Hampton Ladies Triathlon held every June. They will be sharing their knowledge about the sport of triathlon and also introducing a very exciting opportunity for our students – designing the medal for the event!
Parent-Teacher Preference forms will be sent home to parents soon. Please return them as soon as possible so that teachers can work together to coordinate parent teacher times for sibling appointments. Report cards , with assigned times included, will be sent home on Monday, November 21st. Parent-Teacher Meetings will take place Thursday evening, November 24 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. AND Friday, November 25, from 8:30 until 11:00 a.m.
Friday we will acknowledge National Jersey Day. This is a day used to celebrate all sports so feel free to wear your jerseys to school!
Good for Kids Program: This program is used to help support students who require extra help as they acquire a second language in the French Immersion program. It allows teachers to spend a bit of extra time working in small groups with the students who need help the most.
Home and School News: Our Home and School kicked off their Fall “Java Moose coffee” fundraiser. All forms are due back on October 17th with coffee arriving just in time for the December holidays.
