This is a message from Mrs. Blanchard, Principal at Hampton Elementary School.
We have had a great first week of school. Our students are settled in with their teachers, meeting lots of new friends and learning our school expectations and routines. We had our first fire drill practice on Friday (postponed from Thursday due to the rainy weather) and the students did a wonderful job exiting the school quickly and quietly.
Monday your child will be taking home the first Newsletter for the 2017-2018 school year. This is the only newsletter that will be sent in paper hardcopy. We rely on sending information via an email address so please ensure your address is up to date on the student information forms. Newsletters will be sent out by the first Monday of the month. Our newsletter can be read here: http://web1.nbed.nb.ca/sites/ASD-S/1939/Newsletters/September%202017%20newsletter.pdf and our September Calendar can be read here: http://web1.nbed.nb.ca/sites/ASD-S/1939/Newsletters/September%202017%20Calendar.pdf
This year we will continue to send a weekly Synrevoice “Hawk Squawk” message to all families on Friday afternoons with all the information you require for the upcoming week. This will eliminate you receiving multiple messages on various days of the week. The only exception will be if there is something unexpected that we need to share with you (ie. Early closure, late bus).
All students should now have their own school agenda – Parents should read and sign pages within the first section and remember to initial daily. Don’t forget to complete the Agenda Scavenger Hunt where your child will be entered in a chance to win a family night at the movies! We have received 137 entries to date and the deadline is MONDAY!
Morning Supervision begins at 7:50. Please ensure your child is not dropped off before this time. Please remember that the lane directly in front of the school is reserved for bus traffic. If you are driving your child/children to school, please use the drop off location just before the Hawk Nest playground OR past the front doors.
Student fees and school supply fees ($60) are collected each fall to help cover the cost of our skating program, visiting performers and authors, and agendas.
Jennifer Kruger from Estey Art Creations will be doing a presentation on her afterschool art program for students. Interested students can sign up at jennifer@esteycreations.com
Student Picture Day is Wednesday, September 20th! Harvey Studios will be here taking classes for their individual photos. Students will NOT be permitted to have their photo taken unless they have given permission and returned the signed RTIPPA form. This is also the day of our first half day dismissal so students will be sent home to the after school location we have on file UNLESS otherwise noted.
LOOKING FOR: Do you have a crib board and cards collecting dust around your house? If so, we would LOVE to have them for a new club at HES.
We are in need of urgent volunteers for both our Parent School Support Committee, Home and School and Green Team Champions. See below and if you are interested email sarah.blanchard@nbed.nb.ca and I’ll add you to my list!
1.     Home and School Committee - Home and School collaborates and dialogues with other education partners and like-minded community associations in order to achieve the best for our community, both the school community and the greater community at large.
2.     PSSC (Parent School Support Committee) – one evening per month providing advice to the principal on: school policies, partnerships within the community, maintaining a positive learning environment, supporting the language and culture of the school, and planning for school improvement.
3.     Green Recycle Team Champions – would require visiting the school on a daily basis to pick up plastic, paper and metal and cardboard and bringing them to the blue bins
If you have not yet returned your child’s information form, please do so as soon as possible. Also, if your child has medical needs, we need the updated medical plan immediately. If your child has a new medical condition or concern, please drop in to complete the appropriate medical forms (“Extreme Allergy Management and Emergency Plan”, “Essential Routine Services and Emergency Plan”).
Have a great weekend!
